Senior Fitness Specialist

Park Nicollet is looking to hire a Senior Fitness Specialist to join our Melrose Center team!  Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day. 

Position Summary:

The Senior Fitness Specialist is responsible for oversight of Fitness Center operations at the client company, including supervision of staff if applicable, oversight of facility, development and management of policies and procedures, and promotion of the facility and services.

The role of the Fitness Specialist at the Melrose Center is to facilitate various movement groups and individual sessions for our population of patients with eating disorders. The Fitness Specialist staff work in conjunction with Physical Therapists and as part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.

The Melrose Center takes a holistic approach to wellness and recovery by incorporating a mental health focus in a hospital-based facility. Flexibility, initiative, and excellent communication skills are essential for the on-call role. Groups and individual sessions are centered around mindfulness, mind-body connection, and the benefits of movement (and rest) for mental health and recovery.

Certification and experience in yoga, Pilates, or other applicable fitness training is required.  Certification for group fitness instruction through a nationally recognized organization (ACE, AFFA, NETA, ISSA, ACSM, etc.) is preferred. Experience working in mental health is desired, but not required.

On-call staff are asked to cover shifts on weekdays, weekends, evenings, and may be asked to cover with short-notice. This position includes working at least 1 weekend shift per month and at least 1 holiday per year.

Work Schedule:

Hours vary depending on need, potentially hours between 8am-8pm weekdays and weekends. Sunday daytime availability and one holiday per year are required.

Required Qualifications:

Candidate must have a strong technical knowledge in the area of exercise education, a good understanding of general health topics, and knowledge of the worksite health promotion planning and implementation process. CPR certification is required.  The ability to lead group fitness classes is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

This individual will have a four-year degree in health education, exercise physiology, sports management or a closely related field preferred or equivalent health related education and experience.  ACSM Health and Fitness Instructors and additional fitness related certifications (such as group fitness or strength and conditioning) are preferred.
