Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), Product Development team is seeking highly motivated and talented Senior Flight Controls Engineer (Level 4) to join the team in Everett, WA. It is an exciting and challenging opportunity to be part of developing the next Boeing technologies and products, including the joint Boeing/NASA X-66 Sustainable Flight Demonstrator Program.
Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will have experience in Primary or High Lift (Secondary) flight controls. This role requires technical knowledge of Flight Controls function and system development, and involves integration with other airplane teams such as Aerodynamics Stability and Control, Structures, Loads, Safety, Hydraulic power, etc. Preferred candidates will have demonstrated success in working complex flight controls projects, understanding of overall airplane and interfacing team needs, and a strong aptitude & desire to work with diverse teammates around the world towards a common aviation goal
Position Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include system architecture development with trade studies, system level requirements development and allocation (including plans to validate and verify), system modeling and performance analysis, technology development projects, process development, functional integration, , actuation design and development, supplier coordination, and support to significant projects such as Eco-D, future flight deck, X-66, and future Boeing airplanes. Works under general supervision.
Other Responsibilities may include one or more of the following:
Actuation system and equipment definition and trade studies
Requirement development and decomposition
Actuation modeling and simulation
Actuation equipment qualification
Actuation systems suppliers’ oversight
Actuation system performance analysis
Actuation system spatial Integration to aircraft
Investigation of laboratory and field issues related to flight control actuation system
Test procedures authoring, execution and analysis for rigs actuation system
Knowledge in modeling and simulation using Matlab/SimulinkExperience working within cross functional teams
Work Authorization:
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Everett, WA.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
10+ years of experience in an engineering discipline.
10+ years of experience in Flight Operations Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience in complex safety critical system design using: object based three-dimensional CAD tools, such as, CATIA; dynamic system simulation tools, such as, Easy5; and traditional engineering analytical methods.
Experience in requirements development, design, analysis, and verification & validation of flight control systems.
Experience using requirement management tools such as IBM Rational DOORS.
Experience with System Safety Analysis including: failure modes and effects analysis; fault tree analysis; common cause analysis, and single & multiple failure analysis.
Experience with manufacturing regulated and certified, safety critical components and software.
Experience with aeronautical systems development following ARP4754 standard.
Experience with software development oversight following RTCA DO-178 standard.
Experience with sub-systems/equipment testing at laboratory or rig environment.

$135,150 – $182,850
