Responsible for designing formwork and shoring structures for clients under the supervision of an engineer.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
•Preparation of concrete formwork design drawings according to current Company standards.
•Prepares bills of material.
•Provides technical assistance to sales and manufacturing.
•Develops and tracks design schedule for larger projects, as required.
•Provides milestone dates on large projects.
•Utilizes pre-engineered tables, graphs, and data to design formwork solutions.
•Coordinates and works in conjunction with others in designing, laying out or detailing similar or related structures.
•Assists in training of Forms Designer I and Forms Designer II as needed.
•Makes revisions, and changes to layouts as directed.
•Visit job sites to observe formwork in use.
•Participate in CAD training seminars, attend classes to improve technical proficiency.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Nature and Scope
May modify processes to resolve situations.
Under limited supervision, relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine the best approach to achieve desired outcomes. Course of action is often determined by interpreting procedures and policies. Work typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor or direct customers of the process.
Is sought out and/or assigned to provide general guidance/direction, training, and technical assistance to junior level support personnel. Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring/firing authority.
Work Environment
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
Education and Experience
Technical certification or associate degree may be required in some areas. Generally, 5-7 years of experience in a related area of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
•Excellent ACAD design skills
•Excellent verbal and written communications
•Associates degree in CAD Design or equivalent work experience (6 years minimum)
•Blueprint reading experience (2 years minimum)
•Concrete formwork and/or shoring layout experience (3 years minimum
•Bachelor Degree in Construction Engineering or similar a plus
•Experience working in concrete formwork design a plus
•Knowledge of shop drawing preparation a plus
•Prior experience in supervising a drafting staff
