The Hertz Telematics Platform & Connectivity Hub was built from the ground up to be an AWS cloud native application, using the latest frameworks and UX design principle to help our users manage the locations & status of Hertz’ fleet.

This React application exists in a microservice & serverless ecosystem, aggregating many applications data on the Hertz fleet and exposing it to users in a feature rich, map focussed interface to manage the lifecycle, maintenance and day to day management of a 400,000 + vehicle fleet.

Our teams are small, agile, and there is a startup feel to the work we do, with plenty of room to innovate.

What You’ll Do:

DAY TO DAY

We are looking for an experienced Front-end Software Engineer to join our team, working on uses cases related to vehicles (ICE, Hybrid & EVs) connected to our Hertz Telematics Platform and other Hertz APIs.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on a modern UX driven React web application that is the window into Hertz’ fleet. You’ll also work with the rest of the team to define APIs, best practices and testing for this mature and modern application, and others at earlier stages of development.

This is a senior engineering role with lots of room to grow & take the lead on specific initiatives.

What you will do:

Work in an Agile environment with Engineering, QA & Product leaders in Sprints Collaborate with fellow engineers, product managers, UX & stakeholders to design & deliver innovative solutions to business challenges Contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle from inception to deployment Design, document and implement new innovative solutions with a wide variety of technologies Learn on the job and bring new solutions, ideas & technologies to the team Contribute to an environment of cutting edge, high quality, well monitored, reliable cloud native software Take ownership of initiatives, inform processes and work with peers with a variety of backgrounds and an eagerness to learn, support and grow professionally Peer review code, giving and receiving productive feedback, and sometime challenging and being challenged on implementation decisions

Essentials Skills & Experience:

5+ years of Frontend Software engineering experience Experience working in an Agile environment, and cooperating with Product Manager & other engineers required. BSc/MSc in Computer Science or equivalent qualifications or professional experience. A sense of ownership and pride in your work and its impact. Organized and effective communicator. Critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and time-management skills.

Required Skills & Experience:

Experience in modern JS frameworks like React or Vue or Angular. Extensive experience in Javascript or Typescript and associated testing technologies. A desire & willingness to learn new technologies & frameworks. Source control experience with Git & ideally GitHub Enterprise. Rest API knowledge and best practices.
 

Desired Skills & Experience:

Material-UI experience or similar. Java & Spring Boot knowledge or experience. Experience communicating with stakeholders, product & UX teams. Ability to design solutions & communicate those designs effectively. Experience leading a project or owning a solution is a plus. Linux / OSX knowledge & bash scripting experience. Experience monitoring APIs, for health, usage & rate-limiting desireable. Experience automating software testing, versioning, releases, deployments & rollbacks in AWS using Jenkins or GitHub Actions is a plus.
