JOB TITLE: SENIOR FUEL TAX MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Fuel Tax Manager to join our team at Circle K. As the Senior Fuel Tax Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of fuel tax compliance and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fuel tax regulations and a proven track record of managing fuel tax compliance for a large organization.
You will work closely with our finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely filing of fuel tax returns. You will actively engage in fuel tax planning and process improvement. You will manage the fuel tax audit function and conduct detailed research and analytical functions to solve fuel tax issues while working closely with the Fuel Accounting and Operations teams for source data. You will support and manage company goals by focusing on personal accountability, customer service, management, and leadership.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to the Fuel Tax Manager in addition to monitoring and evaluating performance.Strategic analysis of business operations to effectively implement innovative process improvements.Attend frequent meetings and advise/assist Management on complex fuel tax issues, acquisition/divestitures, programs, laws, policies and tax regulations.Provide assistance and recommendations to Management in developing and implementing operational fuel tax policies and procedures.Through the Fuel Tax Manager, manage:Onshore and offshore team in the preparation and filing of all fuel excise tax returns, related schedules, and related reports for Federal, State, and Local tax jurisdictions.Prepare and/or approve General Ledger Balance Sheet account reconciliations.Manage fuel tax audits and work closely with Fuel Accounting.Manage the preparation and filing of IFTA, HVUT and weight & distance returns.Manage and maintain internal controls and audits to ensure accuracy and completeness of fuel tax records and manage the fuel tax portion of year-end financial statement audit.Provide guidance for PDI Enterprise (ERP) and Avalara fuel tax configurations and settings.Ensure compliance with requirements, policies and regulations by enforcing adherence to corporate systems, policies and governmental regulations, rendering opinions and advising management on needed actions.Monitor changes in fuel tax laws and regulations, tax rates, and accounting rules through research, workshops, publications, and tax notifications; stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in fuel tax management; communicate changes to internal groups and ensure proper implementation of changes and training as needed.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.Seven to ten years of progressive fuel excise tax experience.Experience representing company in audits.Must be detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.Management experience required.General ledger accounting experience required.Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.Experience with PDI and Avalara a plus.#LI-KK1
