**Job Summary**
The **Senior Gas Audit Specialist** at Alliant Energy plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with state and federal natural gas regulatory requirements. This autonomous position is responsible for developing, supporting, implementing, and communicating internal compliance efforts. The specialist collaborates with subject matter experts to prepare for and lead regulatory audits, acting as a liaison with state and federal regulators.
Ideal candidates will have experience in gas compliance auditing or gas code compliance, having spent several years in the gas industry in an engineering or compliance role. They should possess a deep understanding of compliance and the ability to work effectively with regulatory agencies, recognizing that while common goals exist, there are multiple ways to achieve them.
This hybrid/remote position can be based at any of our Wisconsin gas office locations.
**What you will do**
+ Manages the pre-audit process of field installations, records, plans, and procedures in preparation for audits by Federal/State regulatory agencies. Utilizing thorough knowledge of standards and procedures along with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements/expectations, and collaborating with subject matter experts, performs pre-audits to ensure expectations are being met and areas of concern are identified.
+ Consults with appropriate field leadership, operations personnel, and subject matter experts to determine and implement solutions to minimize or eliminate any noted areas of concern and performs or directs follow-up investigations and audits to ensure the implemented solutions are effective.
+ Directs the regulatory audit process and represents Alliant Energy during regulatory audits while serving in a liaison role to the assigned federal and state regulatory inspectors. Partners with the regulatory inspectors as well as internal groups to facilitate audits of construction work, records, plans and procedures, and in-service facilities, including leading, presenting, and actively participating during audits.
+ Manages required follow-up actions resulting from regulatory audits, including informing stakeholders of audit results, directing additional field verification of noted issues, gathering information related to noted issues to aid in developing a response, and drafting and filing an appropriate response to the regulatory agency within the specified timeframe.
+ Educates internal and external stakeholders on regulatory audit and field findings, standards updates, and other compliance initiatives, including presenting to internal operations personnel and contractors to ensure awareness of expectations and requirements.
+ Serves as a primary gas compliance resource to field leadership and operations personnel during emergency and non-emergency situations, including ensuring compliance requirements are met.
+ Investigates emergency situations to determine appropriate reporting requirements, notifies internal and external stakeholders, and participates in lessons-learned investigations.
+ Develops, maintains, and delivers training materials for field leadership and operations personnel in support of compliance and special project initiatives. Includes training to produce high quality gas records and documentation that meet company standards and Federal/State regulatory requirements/expectations. Also includes initial and periodic refresher training to field leadership in all aspects of gas compliance, as it relates to their positions. Areas of focus may include, but are not limited to, design, inspections, maintenance, field installations, operator qualification, pipeline public awareness, integrity management, control room management, emergency response, the audit process, equipment, tools or instrument calibration/testing, and record keeping systems.
+ Evaluates gas industry issues, including significant events and proposed rulemaking, then recommendations for improvements and develops comments in response to proposed rules.
+ Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
**Education Requirements**
+ Bachelor's Degree Preferred
**Required Experience**
+ 8 years of experience in natural gas operations, design, construction, or related area, including 5 years of experience in the Gas Audit Specialist position, or similar experience.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
+ Thorough knowledge of natural gas operating practices, inspections and maintenance requirements, operator qualification requirements, construction standards, gas materials, equipment, and instruments.
+ Demonstrated ability to educate others regarding natural gas operating practices, inspections and maintenance requirements, operator qualification requirements, construction standards, gas materials, equipment, and instruments.
+ In-depth knowledge of safety rules, applicable natural gas codes, and Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
+ Demonstrated ability to determine compliance with safety rules, applicable natural gas codes, and Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
+ Expert knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements related to natural gas emergencies.
+ Demonstrated ability to ascertain critical information about an emergency to determine and implement appropriate notification/reporting requirements.
+ Demonstrated ability to read and understand utility maps, plan and profiles, and drawings.
+ Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, Microsoft Office). Knowledge of gas operations information technology systems such as GIMMS, CERCplus, and GIS required.

**Pay Range:**
$84,000 - $115,000
This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
