Job Description

OceanaGold are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Senior Geologist – Hydrogeology to effectively plan and de-risk the mining operation against the adverse effects of the surface and ground water that present risk to the short- and long-term objectives of the Didipio Operations. The role will report to the Superintendent – Water Management.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

Manage and implement the collection of hydrological and hydrogeological dataDesign and implement subsurface dewatering systems such as water bores and depressurization drainsDesign systems to manage groundwater in underground operationsPrepare reports for internal and external useSupervise, mentor and familiarise the team with the installation and general maintenance of hydrogeological equipment and hydrological systemsAnalyze data, modeling trends and modelling groundwater pressured flowDevelop and review Trigger Action Response Plans (TARPS) for various hydrogeological related instancesParticipate in the regular review and audit of the Inundation and Inrush PHMP and Water Management PlanImplement the objectives, standards, and targets set accordingly within the Water Management PlanPrepare monthly, and quarterly technical reports and ability to manage hydrological and hydrogeological data

Values and the OceanaGold WayTertiary qualifications in Geology, Hydrogeology, or Geological EngineeringLicensed EngineerMinimum of 5 years working experience in Mining or HydrogeologyWith a valid Professional Driver’s licenseWith experience in hydrological drilling logistics, planning, and executionWith experience in Slug Testing, Packer Testing, Hydrochemistry analysisProficient in 3D software packages (Leapfrog, Modflow, Surpac, Deswik, Feflow, Aquifer Test Pro, QGIS, etc)With strong management and leadership skillsPossess a strong drive for health and safety managementDrive for continuous improvement and innovation
