Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a highly motivated Senior Geotechnical and/or Civil Engineer and Project Manager to support mine tailings storage facility and heavy civil infrastructure design and analysis as part of the Mining group in Denver, Colorado or Salt Lake City, Utah.
Job Summary/Responsibilities
Provides project leadership in the areas of design, investigation, analysis, construction and operation of Tailings Storage Facilities and multi-disciplinary mining projectsPlans, directs, and supervises all operations included in a mid- to large, complex projects or several moderately sized projects with greater risk and complexity, and significant financial impactWork with existing and potential clients to provide long-term solutions for mine tailings facilitiesDevelop project proposals and work with mining business leader to support and grow Mining practiceProvide direction to and mentoring to other technical staff in completing project tasksPerforms independent technical reviews of engineering reports and design and signs off on workMay be responsible for Project teams that include 5 or more members often representing multiple disciplines including subcontractor(s)Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering project, focusing on the design and operations of mine tailings projectsProvide advice and consultation to client on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulationsQualificationsMinimum Requirements
BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationProfessional Engineer (PE) LicenseValid U.S. Driver’s LicensePreferred Qualifications
Master’s OR PhD in Civil Engineering or related field of study10+ years or more of relevant experienceDemonstrated progressive experience in tailings storage facility design, evaluation (e.g., PSHA analysis, material characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses), construction monitoring and operationsExperience managing a geotechnical laboratoryProgressive project experience including task leadership and deputy Engineer-of-Record roles on design and design-build projectsAbility to serve as primary point of contact with the client and develop client relationshipsFamiliarity with design reports, drawings and specificationsKnowledge of standard geotechnical and hydrological software program and evaluationsMust be resourceful, highly organized, professional with attention to detail and peopleAdditional InformationSponsorship is available for this roleRelocation is available for this roleAbout AECOM
