Purpose of Job:
Contribute to Stantec business goals by providing geotechnical expertise in transport and infrastructure projects for all project stages, from the soil investigation up to the detail design and construction supervision.
Support team leader and wider geotechnical/transport team to ensure that project outcomes meet both the client and Stantec expectations. Support the group leader and/or practice lead to develop the strategy and advance the development and growth of the Geotechnical team. Identify opportunities and develop business in line with Stantec business strategies.
Essential Functions:
Determine internal/external client requirements. Conduct, manage and oversee field data acquisition, site investigations and testing, and produce calculations, reporting, specifications and drawings to ensure that geotechnical designs provide appropriate solutions. Provide quality check and review experience to an appropriate technical standard. Provide geotechnical expertise to meet project needs. Plan, program and coordinate geotechnical project inputs, to deliver the agreed outputs on budget, on time and to agreed quality standards. Provide client facing geotechnical interface for geotechnical work in the Sydney region. Develop strong working relationships with internal / external clients by delivering valuable business solutions and understanding the client’s business and working in their best interests. Network and build business relationship with key counterparts in the Stantec business nationally. Assist marketing Stantec geotechnical capabilities to current and potential future clients Maintain knowledge of the local market to contribute to the success of the business Manage and maintain own base project workload and utilisation to expected levels and standards Prepare proposals and carry out other appropriate internal/external marketing initiatives as required. Develop and mentor junior staff. Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures. Be a representative of the Stantec geotechnical team in the wider geotechnical engineering community.Education & Experience:
Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical/Civil Engineering with completion of geotechnical electives and/or major as part of your university studies. Accredited as CPEng Minimum 6 years working experience in consulting field and/or recognised as a senior engineer in your current role. Experience with soil investigation, supervision and geotechnical design. Previous experience with engineering software packages such as gINT, GEOSTUDIO, PLAXIS, ROCSCIENCE, AutoCAD.
