The Job:  

Stanley Black & Decker’s Global Strategic Sourcing organization has an opportunity for a Senior Global Commodity Manager. This position will be responsible for managing the commercial strategic direction for the Global mechanical components spend across all business units. This position requires management of 2 direct reports and a spend of $200M in the following spend categories:

StampingsSprings/Wireforms

You will be responsible for developing the global category strategy as well as coordinating tactical execution to meet departmental, product and functional group goals and objectives on a global level and multi business unit level. Total Cost of Ownership as well as driving Stanley Fulfillment System (SFS) with suppliers is the new focus of the Supply Management organization which results in service, quality and profitability.  Ideal candidate will have 5+ years’ experience in direct material category leadership, purchasing & project management.  

As a Senior Global Commodity Manager, you’ll be a hybrid employee to either Valley City, OH or Towson, MD.

You’ll get to:

Ability to develop and execute global sourcing strategies to improve service, quality, and total cost of ownership across a global spend portfolio of $200M and communicate it to your internal stakeholders.Lead and mentor 2 direct reports and working with a global and diverse team.Negotiate, implement, and manage supplier contracts and service level agreements as well as supplier relationships on behalf of the company.Conduct strategic global supplier quarterly reviews to define annual performance metrics and measurable action plans.Identify and communicate risks and coordinate its mitigation plans.Maintain broad knowledge of worldwide market trends on assigned commodities.Effectively lead and communicate category strategy at all levels within the company.Work closely with people and all functions across the company (Engineering, Operations, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Logistics, etc) to formulate, implement and execute sourcing and continuous improvement strategies to improve profitability.Build internal relationships with plants globally to ensure strategy implementation.Manage price Inflation …negate without effecting service and quality.Build Y-o-Y cost reduction /productivity projects deck to ensure continued activity.Prepare RFI’s, RFP’s, and RFQ’s and evaluate supplier proposals.Institute world class procurement / sourcing techniques, processes, and practicesDirect and coordinate supplier development activities working with SQEs and SDEsUse project management and transformational lean improvement methodology to deliver team results.Support New Product Introduction activity as required.

Bachelor’s degree in relevant area required, mechanical or manufacturing engineering preferredMinimum 5 years of experience in global strategic sourcing/procurement including supplier selection, management, contract negotiations, implement, and manage supplier contracts, exclusivity, and NDA agreementsDemonstrated experience developing a $200M complex global category strategy across multiple business units and regionsExperience with category/component cost modeling and the use of information to drive fact-based negotiationsExperience with creating and maintaining quarterly material cost models tied to material indices to manage material deflation/inflation through supplier quarterly material locks and part price adjustments.Experience building category cost models/clean sheets, and monitoring of market and geopolitical trendsKnowledge of manufacturing processes, cost drivers, materials and experience managing mechanical component categories with lean manufacturing methodologiesDrive world class cost and margin enhancement (Value Improvement) with a proven track record of delivering 5% YOY productivityResponsible for creation of TCO value to the organization through a combination of productivity, working capital, synergies, reduced supply risk, improved supplier lead times, etc. Strong influencing/negotiation skills and change management experience with the ability to successfully manage complexity and multiple prioritiesAbility to work independently to deliver results and influence stakeholders internally and externallyExcellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skillsAbility to take accountability for driving team results, overcoming challenges, and working in a highly matrixed environment. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changes Personal drive, high energy, strong teaming skills, collaborative style and commitment to continuous professional growthStrong Excel and data analytical skills

The base pay range for this position in Maryland is $91,000- $164,000 per year. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
