Position Summary

Manages grants and sponsored research related administrative and financial activities with a focus on development and growth of research activities.

Job Responsibilities Oversees and coordinates pre-award activities. Ensures timely submission of federal, foundation, and industry-sponsored grant applications and contracts pursuant to internal policies and sponsor requirements. Responsible for grants and contracts processing. Oversees accurate completion and timely routing of internal paperwork and disclosures. Negotiates with sponsor as needed for contract execution. Maintains database and records to track activities. Oversees and coordinates post-award activities. Provides on-going financial oversight of grants and contracts including but not limited to: tracking of funds, evaluating expenditures, forecasting, preparation and submission of progress and final reports. Maintains, tracks and updates effort tracking to ensure compliance with time and effort policies. Works with investigators to manage budgeting process for grants and contracts and assists in general budget development and implementation. Manages payments of services and reimbursements of expenses including but not limited to preparation and submission of payment requests, check transmittals, expenses, fund transfers, and travel requisitions; ordering laboratory and office supplies. Responsible for preparation of standard and ad-hoc reports on expenditures and awards/grants. Provides analysis and reasons for variance as needed. Forecasts expenditures and makes recommendation for corrective action if deficits are projected. May assist with program specific promotional or outreach activities. Assists with growth and development of research. Creates growth plans for sustainability; strategizes with leaders to bring new studies and increase overall grant portfolio. Manages onboarding and appointment process for post doctoral staff and graduate students. Manages and advises on the operation of research programs. Recruits, hires and supervises administrative and technical staff for various programs. Oversees and coordinates grants management and financial management in support of research staff in the department. Serves as the point-of-contact  and resource to  staff for all research grant activities for pre- and post-award. Ensures compliance with institutional policies regarding systems access and training required for access for human subjects research. Manages purchasing. Monitors expenses for correct allocation to various grants and funds and also to ensure they are consistent with institutional and sponsors’ policies. Education Bachelor's Degree Experience

Approximately 5 years of experience in basic research administration.

Experience in pre and post award processes, lab ordering and equipment management.

Experience in reporting, budgeting and compliance aspects of research.

Knowledge of Lab Safety and NIH regulations governing basic research.

Prior supervisory experence.

Experience in developing business and strategic plans for new programs and program growth highly desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to foster smooth communication and teamwork among clinical research faculty, fellows, staff, internal and external stakeholders, and external organizations (sponsors and contract research organizations). Proficiency in MS Office, specifically word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel) and database applications. Demonstrated excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.
