Senior Grants Manager, BRET

Assist faculty in preparing and assembling new/competing grant proposals/contracts in compliance with sponsor, University, and federal guidelines and deadlines. Interact with other departments and agencies to facilitate the development, submission, and administration of grant proposal. Independently manage budget responsibilities for grants. Monitor terms and agreements of grants awards for compliance.

The Office of Biomedical Research Education and Training (BRET) supports and coordinates graduate education, postdoctoral training, minority affairs, career development, and educational technology initiatives for the Vanderbilt biomedical research community. Included under the BRET auspices are the Office of Career Development ASPIRE Program, the Office of Outcomes Analysis, Psychological Services for Biomedical Trainees, and Poster Printing Services. The BRET office works closely with the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the Postdoctoral Association, and has extensive responsibility for Training Grant applications as well as their subsequent administration and coordination.

The BRET Office also handles all aspects of the admissions processes for graduate programs in the biomedical sciences.

Duties and Responsibilities: Manages training grants and student fellowships in School of Medicine, Basic Sciences. Assist Principal Investigator in determining requirements and deadlines for responses to Request for Applications or general application submissions in a proactive manner. Coordinate multiple funding applications under absolute deadlines.

Collaborate with Principal Investigator and Sponsored Programs Administration office throughout application process to achieve a professional document for submission.

Obtains appropriate signatures for Conflict of Interest forms and Transmittal forms related to grant submissions. Responsible for tracking confirmation of submitted funding applications from Sponsored Programs Administration/Grants & Contracts. Collaborates with Administrative Officer/Financial manager on new, competing or revised grant applications to prepare initial and extended budgets including indirect cost calculation. Prepares and submits budgets to Administrative Officer/Financial manager and the Department of Finance. Serves as liaison for the University with the federal sponsor’s Grants Management Specialists and/or Program Officers. Identifies potential funding opportunities and communicates to Principal Investigators or appropriate staff.

Supervisory Relationships: The Grants Administrator will oversee three Grant Managers; this position reports to the Assistant Dean.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Business or Health Administration (or equivalent experience) is preferred Experience with T32 grant management preferred Four years of experience with federal grants management is necessary. Knowledgeable of Federal guidelines and research administration is necessary. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Programs, eRA Commons,Grants.gov,Oracle. Strong organizational and communication skills are necessary. The ability to prioritize projects and maintain strict deadlines is necessary.
