Senior Health Physicist

We are looking for a Senior Health Physicist to provide support to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA).  

Duties:

SNM criticality. Developing and implementing radiation safety program policy and procedures. Emerging health physics issues. Development and administer radiation safety training for DTRA authorized users (AUs), Site Radiation Safety Officers (SRSOs), and x-ray machine operators. Training of ESOH health physics staff on Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Department of Transportation (DOT) and Department of Defense (DoD) radiation safety and health physics regulations. Development of policy and procedures associated with administration of the internal and external dosimetry program including whole body monitoring, and urinalysis and fecal sample collection and processing. Providing support to administration of the OSL dosimetry program as necessary. Under the guidance of ESOH health physics staff, conducting of routine radiation safety program administration including records review, on-site program audits, confirmatory radiation and contamination surveys, review of site standard operating procedures and investigation of unusual radiological events. Collaborating with other health and safety professionals to promote a safe working environment and participate in ESOH marketing initiatives/campaigns.

Required Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in natural science or engineering Minimum of 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus, or a combination of education and experience that includes the courses as shown above, including an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics comparable to that described above.

Allowable Substitution:

Possession of certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics or certification as a Radiation Protection Technologists by the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT).

Required Experience:

Minium of four (4) years of experience in the administration of radiation safety programs and specific knowledge associated with the use, handling, control, and storage of Special nuclear material (SNM). Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to use MS Office or equivalent software.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $67,765.76 to $146,119.92 (annualized USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems’ total compensation package.
