Job Description:
Under the direction of a safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) manager or director, the Senior Health & Safety Coordinator assists in ensuring that the site-specific SH&E plans, workplaces, and operational tasks being conducted conform to Parsons' risk management practices and comply with the prevailing regulatory and client SH&E requirements. Reports by dotted line to a project Delivery Manager or Program Director and reports directly to the Parsons corporate SH&E functional group through a project HSE project manager or program ESH Director. The incumbent must exercise good interpersonal and technical skills while becoming familiar with required client procedures and standards.
The Senior Health & Safety Coordinator:
• Assists the project or program manager with administering the SH&E programs.
• Audits the project or program and its worksites against corporate standards.
• Inspects worksites to detect hazard; provides expertise to project personnel to eliminate/control the SH&E risks associated with exposure to the hazards.
• Creates and submits written audit and inspection reports.
• Monitors project or program work planning and performance; verifies planning and work performance conforms to Parsons' Environmental, Safety, Health, and Risk Program (ESHARP) management system.
• Implements Parsons' occupational injury and incident reporting and management processes.
• Performs trends analyses on audit findings, inspection findings, and incident reports; creates and submits regular analysis reports.
• Assists the project or program manager with new hire orientation.
• Performs regulatory and best practice SH&E training.
• Creates and maintains SH&E training records.
• Participates in routine safe work briefings.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in in Health & Safety/Environmental Management, Occupational Safety and/or Health or related field from a recognized university is required.
• 5+ years overall experience, including 2+ years of related work experience in the field of Health and Safety.
• Working knowledge of Federal and State health and safety regulations and reporting procedures.
• Working knowledge of safety-related national consensus standards (e.g., ANSI, NFPA)
• Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Effective interaction in group settings, using judgment and discretion.
