The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for supporting the administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource functions; this includes the ability to attract, hire, develop and retain employees in the respective area of responsibility. This individual will be based out of the Des Moines, Iowa district office and is responsible for providing support to multiple locations within the state of Iowa.

Lead the hourly staffing and onboarding process to ensure the business has the necessary competent workforce to meet customer expectations.Support the human resources department by effectively conducting investigations that are attributed to employee relations issues and hotline calls. Provide guidance to business partners on employee relations solutions.Ensures compliance with department records and reports. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars. Maintains company organization charts.Support labor relations issues and negotiations. This includes participating in the developing of economic and non-economic strategy and assisting with grievances.Provides guidance to business partners in regards to Employment Law Compliance. This includes, but is not limited to Affirmative Action, EEOC, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, and NLRA.Conducts new hire onboarding for all hourly and salaried employees.Participates in the facilitation of annual merit and gross wage increase processes.Assists plant leadership with the annual performance planning process for hourly non-exempt employees.Review hourly job descriptions and update as necessary.Supports leadership under the guidance of the Human Resources Manager to provide suggested development planning for employees.Conduct assigned human resources training programs for assigned employees.Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.Competencies

This job operates 60% of the time in mining locations to include quarries, mines, and remote offices; 40% of the time will be in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.
Travel
Travel will be 60% within the assigned area of the Division, with out-of-area and overnight travel expected.
Required Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree and five years’ human resource experience, or six years of related experience in the HR field.Preferred Education and Experience
