The Opportunity
We are looking for a senior wastewater hydraulic modeller to join our a multi-disciplinary technical delivery team working on a wide variety of projects with local and international clients. You will become a part of our global modelling centre of excellence in Cardiff/Bristol and will lead a team of junior modellers. You will lead and be responsible for a broad range of UK projects at all stages including strategic advice, catchment and city level planning, concept and detailed solutions, and post construction evaluation.
Projects include wastewater and stormwater catchment modelling studies (including WINEP/NEP and storm overflows) and developing solutions of all kinds. We support design and build frameworks, ensuring you see your solutions developed from cradle to grave including industry leading SuDS / Nature based solutions. You will have the opportunity to work across all levels of engineering, science and research supported by a welcoming, talented team around you.
As a senior member you will take ownership of, and support the Project manager with project delivery, including setting and managing project programs, budgets, and leading quality assurance procedures in your area of expertise. You will develop wastewater network / catchment survey specifications and liaise with survey sub-contractors along with mentoring the development of our junior modellers; your direct team, the wider modelling centre of excellence and supporting our global training programme.
Is this role right for you?
In order to be successful, we are seeking practical experience in hydraulic modelling techniques within the UK water industry, specifically using InfoWorks ICM including Level 1 UPM water quality modelling.
You will hold a Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related discipline, chartered or close to chartership with an appropriate organisation.
We are interested in the following skills and experience;
Track record of successfully delivering water projects in the UK, including collaboration with private/public sector clients and regulators. Ability to lead and deliver wastewater network modelling projects, including model build and flow survey verification. Delivering to industry standards and specifications. Skills in 1D hydraulic models for risk analysis and develop solutions for water quality and flood risk benefits including storm overflows and wastewater treatment works. Develop and review technical reports, models, supporting calculations and deliverables. Assist with bid preparation and proposals. Strong client relationship management skills. Confidence in presenting results, challenges and proposals in a productive, collaborative working environment.
