**Main purpose of role:**
Responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing quality system and business process improvements that increase capacity, reduce lead-time, reduce the work-in-process, and improve process flow and efficiency. These actions will occur across multiple facets of Abbott's organization including: manufacturing, design, supplier development, documentation, and Abbott's suppliers. Projects will incorporate Six-Step problem solving, A3 Method, Capacity Modeling, Cycle Time Efficiency, Value Add vs. Non-Value Add, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, or a variety of other systems improvement philosophies. The employee will be required to create strong relationships with team members internal and external to Abbott to ensure project success that drive sustainable business results.
**Main responsibilities:**
+ Analyzes, creates and implements quality system and/or business process improvements within the Product Performance/Complaint Handling department that increase capacity, reduce lead-time, reduce work in process and improve timeliness of complaint evaluations.
+ Completes capacity analyzes internally and/or with cross-functional teams for headcount, equipment and space requirements using simulation software or other effective tools.
+ Designs, implements and maintains effective metrics with internal customers to ensure business goals are achieved.
+ Participates as a core member in cross-functional teams to quickly troubleshoot and eliminate process issues internally or at suppliers.
+ Makes recommendations to cross-functional teams, which drive increase productivity and sustainability of process improvements.
+ May use financial analyses tool and recommend alternative courses of action.
+ Convinces internal customer or suppliers to make fundamental changes to their manufacturing and/or business processes so that business goals can be achieved.
+ Establishes and cultivates an extensive network of support to facilitate completion of assignments.
+ Participates in the development of less experienced staff by setting an example, providing guidance and work direction, and offering counsel.
+ May lead a project team.
+ Participates in determining goals and objectives for projects.
+ Influences middle management on technical or business solutions.
+ May interact with vendors.
+ Plans and organizes non-routine tasks w/approval.
+ Initiates or maintains work schedule.
+ Establishes priorities of work assignments.
+ Exercises judgment in selecting innovative, practical methods to achieve problem resolution.
+ Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
**Education level:**
Bachelors Degree (± 16 years) in related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Masters Degree (± 18 years) preferred
**Experience/Background:**
+ Minimum 6 years Related work experience with a strong understanding of specified functional area
+ Minimum 2 years work experience in the Medical Device industry or a related regulated field
+ Wide application of technical principles, practices, and procedures. Strong understanding of business unit function and cross group dependencies/relationships. Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
+ Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Has a sound knowledge of various technical alternatives and their impact.
+ Has strong change management skills, is team oriented with strong communication and influencing skills.
+ Demonstrated experience creating value stream structures, optimizing process flow, reducing silos, and implementing robust capacity and surge modeling; with an emphasis on informational processes.
+ Experience creating and implementing continuous improvement systems
The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
