Position Description
The Senior Information Architect (Sr. IA) works with stakeholders to translate organizational goals and intent into the structural program that establishes the “why” for the project. The Sr IA works across disciplines and oversees development of the IA strategy and blueprints for the new digital footprint. The intent of this position is to re-architect the existing www.michigan.gov portal and the subsequent 130 +/-sites under the portal. These sites are made up of Agencies and various Commission, Boards and Marketing sites. Mi.gov has been in existence as an enterprise portal for 12+ years using an enterprise Content Management System (CMS) to manage the content for all State of Michigan Government Agencies. Over the years the portal has gone through many cosmetic “Look & Feel” changes however the structure of how the content is architected and even the massive amounts of content has never been addressed. The intent of this posting is to contract resources to assist in the re-architecture of the Mi.gov portal so that it’s content and navigation are based on Citizens needs and not governmental silos. The work to be completed for this effort will be a pre-cursor to implementing a new Mi.gov CMS & hosting solution sometime in 2015. Our goal is to develop a new design as to how the content will be laid out and use that design once we implement a new CMS. The deliverables associated with this position are: Programming Phase 1. Bench Mark the existing Mi.gov taxonomy illustrating successes and challenges 2. Develop an engagement strategy 3. Develop a gap analysis between successes and challenges Analysis Phase 1. Develop the UI framework analysis 2. Identify core customer personas 3. Develop customer journey maps 4. Identify Agency profiles 5. Compare/overlay customer journey to agency profiles 6. Search Engine analysis internal & external 7. Web Analytics analysis 8. UI Analysis Delivery Phase 1. Develop structure design approach 2. Develop governance model 3. Develop workflow and publishing model 4. Publish Taxonomy 5. Publish UI

Experience Required
• 10+ years experience in information architecture and user experience design. • Experience with enterprise-scale, omni-channel and mobile environments. • Demonstrated ability to apply business strategy and integrate user research to information architecture. • Demonstrated ability to specify complex transactional interfaces; taxonomies and frameworks; and template libraries for content management systems. • Excellent communication skills and comfort level with speaking to C-level executives and technology specialists alike. • Ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams to achieve agreed upon success metrics on schedule and on budget. • Experience with a variety of modeling and mapping tools to explain user experiences. • Demonstrated thought leadership and involvement in the IA and UX community at large • Advanced proficiency in a variety of design tools including Omnigraffle, Visio, and/or InDesign, as well as the MS Office Suite.
Education Required
Advanced degree in a field such as Library & Information Science, Industrial Design, Human-Computer Interaction, English, History, Anthropology, Economics.
