Who We Are

Group Trucks Purchasing is located in 52 sites around the world, has 1,300 employees and a yearly spend of 120 BSEK (~$11B USD). We have 2,550 suppliers in serial production that delivers 1.9 billion parts to Group Truck plants annually. We are a global team working with pride, breaking new grounds and capturing the latest innovations as well as supporting the brands and safeguarding Volvo Group synergies. We work together with speed and agility, in close collaboration, and with a strong mandate towards our suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Our team, Electromobility, Electronics, Electromechanics & Autonomous Purchasing North America, is a key contributor to deliver Volvo Group’s Mission with the increased complexity coming with the continued introduction of new technologies and customer features along with the acceleration of the electrification of our products. We enable this by securing Quality, Delivery, Cost, Feature, Technology, Sustainability and Risk Management (QDCFTSR) targets through Sourcing, Product Development, and Operations support of both serial production and service parts, with strong collaboration with our strategic counterparts located in Europe. We are also focused on the future success of Volvo Group through helping to accelerate technology and business innovations through partnerships in what we call the CampX by Volvo Group!

What You Will Be Doing

As the Senior Innovation Buyer, you are one of the key stakeholders in establishing Purchasing’s overall innovation agenda. This includes leading early phase investigations and pre-studies, as well as exploring different types of business models and partnerships, often with start-ups. The role also includes being the Purchasing interface towards the Engineering Innovation Members in CampX Greensboro, as well as other innovation stakeholders in Volvo Group. You are also, together with your other colleagues, responsible for being the Purchasing interface towards different external innovation hubs and networks.

Another important task in this role is to enable successful networking, scouting, and integration of innovations and new technologies from external suppliers and partners in the Engineering development initiatives, and to continue our transition from a reactive to a proactive way of working in early phases.

You will be based out of Greensboro, NC and report to the Manager of Electromobility Purchasing North America.

Main areas of responsibility:
 

Represent CampX Greensboro in the global CampX Ecosystem Meetings Lead innovation investigations and proof of value cases Be an innovation ambassador and coach to the larger Purchasing community on differences in approach and contracts within this space Proactively scout for new partners through research and trade show attendance Provide a clear understanding of supplier engagements across the Purchasing organization Be the Purchasing representative on Advanced Engineering studies Work in accordance with the Volvo processes, the Code of Conduct, and the Volvo Values Who You Are

We have a strong emphasis on collaboration and sharing, hence we expect you to be a team player that builds relationships over time. We are looking for someone with:
 

Expert verbal and written communication skills  5+ years of strategic purchasing experience Automotive, Powersports, or other heavy manufacturing industry experience Experience with Advanced Engineering or Innovation projects preferred Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent working experience Compensation/Benefits
