It’s an opportunity to be part of something special. **About the role** The **Senior Innovation Scientist** supports new product definition and development within the US Wellness Innovation & Technology pipeline that serves all US brand portfolios. This individual would have various levels of involvement and leadership in the development of conventional and non-conventional, consumer focused and scientifically differentiated products. This individual would ensure key innovation strategies are defined, aligned and staged for further development. **Role Responsibilities** **Execution Powerhouse** + Track record of developing consumer products from concept to launch. + Supports the screening and evaluation of external technologies and/or product opportunities for potential fit to US Haleon brands and G0 portfolio. + Ensures future innovations meet existing superiority framework. + Manages or contributes to one or more projects in support of the US Incubator. + Partners with other R&D Scientists and contractors to facilitate completion of G0 strategy objectives and needs. + Designs experiments and carries out scientific work with an awareness of state-of-the-art technology. Creates research plans to fit overall project objectives. + Ensures all work is conducted in accordance with written procedures (e.g. quality and safety), methods & batch documents, etc. + Identify, challenge, develop and implement written procedures (e.g. quality and safety) methods & batch documents, etc. + Produces or contributes to, departmental quality documentation (including SOP’s, batch documentation, validation protocols & reports), when applicable. + Deliver all EHS standards and expectations on site and within the laboratories. **Growth Mindset** + Maintains awareness of scientific literature to assist work progression and understanding, as well as an awareness of consumer and competitor trends driving industry growth. + Build relationships within cross-functional partners to deliver innovation program. + Highlights own training needs and working with manager develop a training plan and achieve training goals. + Trains self and others in new technology and laboratory responsibilities (including coaching, mentoring and elements of personal development). **Consumer and Customer-Obsessed** + Collaborates with Consumer Understanding and Sensory scientists and contributes to the development of consumer-driven innovation. + Participate in consumer engagement research to understand the category and needs. **Data-Driven** + Maintains precise experimental records; writes invention records to protect scientific discoveries. + Ensures all work is always conducted following good scientific practice and Good Manufacturing Practice (where required). **Agile** + Thrives in environment of shifting priorities and able to work within resource or budgetary constraints. + Flexes priorities to remain focused on objectives in rapidly changing circumstances. + Participates and may lead in general problem solving or lead problem solving initiatives. **Why you?** **Basic Qualifications:** We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: + Bachelor’s degree in Food, Pharmaceutical, Nutritional, Chemical, Biological or related science. + Experience required: 7 years (BS); 4 years (MS), 2 years PhD. + Experience with formulation and/or product development. ​ **Preferred Qualifications:** If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: + Master's Degree or PhD in Food, Pharmaceutical, Nutritional, Chemical, Biological or related science. + Ability to connect consumer needs to product development. + Ability to apply scientific principles and techniques to assigned projects. + Knowledge of R&D development processes and associated commercial environment. + Clear communicator in both oral and written form with both internal departments and external organizations. + Demonstrates ability to take initiative, think and work independently, problem-solve, work effectively in teams, and multitask. + An ability to organize and report study data from internal and external sources. + Flair for creativity and innovation + Basic understanding of statistics and its application to experimental work. **Location:** This role is based in Richmond, VA with in office expectations of 5 days per week Please save a copy of the job description, as this may be helpful to refer to once the advert closes.
