We anticipate the need for one or more Sr. Instrument and Control Specialist at the French Island Plant located in La Crosse, Wisconsin. This position requires a journeyman level skills or experience. The starting base pay for this position is $58.06 hourly.
This position will be posted internally for 15 working days from January 28th, 2025 to February 17, 2025.
Summary:
Perform design, installation, maintenance, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, configuration and repair of power plant instrumentation and process control systems, including distributed control systems, data acquisition systems, programmable logic controllers, simulators, continuous emission monitor systems (CEMS), and other digital based control systems. Perform testing required by Plant Operation, regulatory requirements; review, prepare and submit records in support of these activities. Specify and initiate purchase requisitions in support of the above. Maintain accurate records. Perform equipment and/or system upgrades with latest technology for plant optimization, to include laying conduit and cable for these projects. Train other plant personnel to use instrumentation.
Minimum Requirements:
1) High School Diploma or GED.
2) Must have NICET Level II or company approved equivalent certification.
3) Must have basic computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office products
4) Must have the ability to intelligently communicate constructively with plant personnel both verbally and in writing.
5) Must be able to work with minimal supervision, have strong leadership and teamwork skills.
6) Must be customer focused, have good organizational and problem-solving skills.
7) This position requires four years of applicable power plant instrumentation or equivalent achieved through successful completion of a four-year apprenticeship program OR a two-year trade school or the equivalent such as military training OR an AA degree in electronics or instrumentation plus two years of related experience.
Special Requirements:
1) Callouts, and overtime including weekends and holidays is required.
2) May be required to accept temporary assignments at other plants, as directed, by plant management
3) Must have the ability to read and understand logic, schematic and circuit diagrams
4) Will be required to perform duties when necessary, from scaffolding and catwalks in high and confined areas.
5) Ability to research and conduct electrical parts planning and plan lay outs for projects
6) Relocation to immediate area of La Crosse, WI will be employee's responsibility. Must reside within 20-mile radius of French Island Plant within the first 6 months of hire
7) A high awareness of safety and compliance with company safety rules is required at all times.
8) Selection criteria may include testing and/or assessment.
Preferred:
1) Additional technical training and/or experience with boiler, steam turbine and overall power plant operation.
2) Experience working with mechanical equipment, machinery and heavy equipment.
3) Strong experience with variable frequency drive, turbine, generator and 3 phase motors.
4) Two or more years troubleshooting and repairs to the component level of electronic/industrial instrumentation.
