Carollo Engineers is an internationally recognized environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater facilities. We are seeking a Senior Instrumentation and Conrol Engineer to help provide local I&C support, business development, and discipline leadership on projects while being able to leverage the greater electrical and I&C group to execute designs and studies. We are seeking an individual with technical skills as well as strong client service and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities Works with project manager and clientsDevelops scopes of work for I&C systems, networks and projectsLeads I&C design teams for medium and large projectsDesigns PLC SCADA networks for medium and large systemsSpecifies industrial fiber optic networks, systems and componentsDesigns SCADA network block diagramsSelects instrumentationDevelops P&IDsDevelops control strategiesDesigns control panel layoutsPrepares ISA data sheets and instrument sitesDevelops input/output point listsReviews submittalsPrepares specifications for instruments, computers, networking equipment, PLCs and associated componentsDevelops preliminary and final construction cost estimates for I&CMeets with clients for design-related workshops, including instrument preferences, HMI graphics design and standard developmentDesigns radio telemetry SCADA systems using microwave, spread spectrum, licensed MAS, cellular or other radio technologiesMentors and trains Staff Instrumentation EngineersPrepares technical memorandums and reportsManages the instrumentation portion of medium to large sized instrumentation and control projects for water and wastewater treatment facilitiesConducts quality management reviews of instrumentation and control designsParticipates in continuing editing and development of I&C master specificationsDevelops project specific specifications for unusual or unique instrumentation applicationsPrioritizes and balances competing project demands and conflicting project requirementsManages other instrumentation and control engineers and CADD technicians to effectively complete work with attention to detailDelegates tasks to others and follows ups on completion and quality of workIdentifies and consults with others on solutions to unusual, difficult, or complex tasksEffectively participates in client contacts and business development effortsIdentifies alternatives, evaluates each, and determines appropriate actions to move forwardMakes solid and implementable decisions in a timely mannerReduces complex aspects of instrumentation and control engineering to terms understandable to othersAttends to details in preparation or review of calculations, drawings, and specificationsMonitors scope, schedule, and budget and controls the work to the project planUnderstands, implements, and enforces company and client technical standards on projectsTravel required when requestedMakes site visits to observe during construction and operation Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Instrumentation and Control Engineering; Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering10-15 years experience in instrumentation and control systems in water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations and associated facilitiesRegistration as a Professional EngineerExpert in the design of industrial instrumentation and control systems, selection and specification of instruments, and design of industrial communication networks for water and wastewater facilitiesExpert in developing, reading and understanding P&IDs and control schematicsExpert in design and development of industrial communication control networksHighly motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision on medium to large instrumentation and control systems for water and wastewater treatment facilitiesUnderstands projects at the conceptual level, and develops corresponding instrumentation and control engineering scope of work, budget and scheduleAbility to work independently to effectively complete routine or moderately complex tasksAbility to simultaneously think beyond past approaches and propose practical approaches to instrumentation and control design and constructionListens and understands the concerns and needs of other project team membersAbility to control behavior under situations involving pressure, conflict and uncertaintyCommunicate clearly and concisely in speech, writing, and contract documentsPresents communications in an organized fashion and with appropriate level of detailPositively influences both peers and subordinates to move toward overall project goalsActively looks ahead to plan for and respond to project challengesSeeks long term benefits to the overall project when determining instrumentation and control design approachSensitive to political issues and client preferences in determining instrumentation and control engineering approachAware of the "business" of instrumentation and control engineering as well as the technical design issuesStrong verbal and written communications skills that are well organized and persuasiveProficient in public speaking rolesProficient in MS Word, Access, and Excel Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Instrumentation and Control Engineering; Mechanical Engineering or Chemical EngineeringExperience with Microstation or Autocad Pay Range

$118,000 to $160,000 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
