The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

This position plays a role in assisting Senior Executives with risk management, achievement of strategic objectives and fulfilling the Company’s promise to its policyholders.  As a trusted advisor, the Senior Internal Auditor I builds and cultivates effective business relationships while providing independent value-added audit and advisory services

 

The Senior Internal Auditor I participates as a lead staff on project teams that conduct independent assessments of Liberty Mutual’s internal control environment through the execution of risk analysis, incorporation of data analytics, identification of opportunities to utilize data visualization, control evaluation and innovative audit testing procedures and techniques.

 

Individuals in the Senior Internal Auditor I role demonstrate the ability to independently apply the department’s audit

methodology. They participate in all phases of the audit from planning to reporting, including understanding business operations, scoping the audit, identifying risks and controls, designing and executing testing with minimal oversight and assistance with the writing of audit reports.

 

This is a hybrid position, which would require in-office attendance at least twice per week if you reside within 50 miles of one of the following offices: Seattle, WA; Boston, MA; or Plano, TX.  Please note this policy is subject to change.

 

Responsibilities:

 

As a senior staff on an audit team, conducts thorough risk analysis, control identification, and audit program development. Concludes on the effectiveness of controls and control gaps based on the results of testing. Demonstrates the ability to multi-task, by clearly documenting the results of work on more than one audit concurrently.Demonstrates technical knowledge of routine business processes and continues development of technical and intermediate analytical skills to understand more complex business processes. Interprets the associated risks, begins to develop a holistic view of risk, develops testing approach, and proposesDemonstrates a strong understanding of the department’s audit methodology as well as the Company’s Business Units’ processes and systems. Effectively demonstrates these capabilities when completing assigned work.Effectively communicates control weaknesses and control gaps to Operational Management. Makes sound recommendations for audit finding rankings and effectively supports conclusions during discussions with audit Contributes to continuous improvement (CI) efforts. Begins leading root cause problem solving efforts and participates in department-wide CI efforts.Demonstrates an increased technical understanding of data analysis concepts, procedures, and emerging technologies. Effectively conducts data analysis to facilitate audit scoping and testing and begins to identify opportunities to streamline and automate processes. Shares knowledge and experience with less experienced team members.Utilizes analytic technologies and data to enable increased efficiency and deeper insights on risk assurance.Takes an active role in facilitating the training and development of less experienced team members. Qualifications A Bachelor`s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or equivalent training along with two plus years of audit or relevant business experience are requiredIntermediate knowledge of internal audit practices, and financial and operational process documentationDemonstrated ability to evaluate internal controls, effectively execute large portions of an audit independently, analyze and solve complex problems, conduct research, and express ideas clearly, concisely and persuasively both verbally and in writingDemonstrates a strong understanding of business ethicsExperience using data analytics and visualization software such as ACL (Audit Command Language), Power BI, Python, etc is desired.Progress towards completing the CIA exam is preferredThe completion of other insurance or audit related certifications is a plus About Us
