If so, lets talk. **Your role and responsibilities** The IBM Legal department and other internal business leaders rely on accurate, fact-based information to make decisions regarding crimes, illegal activities affecting IBM, joint investigations with external bodies, and other contentious matters. IBM Investigations professionals are trained in the rules of evidence, investigative techniques, and relevant laws to serve as "fact finders" and investigative liaisons for the organization. The successful candidate will plan, research, coordinate, and conduct complex investigations into alleged or suspected violations of law and corporate policy. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to, theft, fraud, espionage, computer crimes, and workplace violence. The candidate will serve as a subject matter expert on investigative strategies, providing guidance to business units and investigative colleagues on probative matters. This role is part of a global investigations team, requiring a collaborative mindset, strong leadership, and the ability to work independently. The position principally focuses on U.S.-centric matters and includes close alignment with the Insider Threat Program Senior Official (ITPSO) on U.S. government-related investigations and insider threat concerns. The successful candidate will also serve as the primary liaison to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for operational activities and intelligence sharing. Key responsibilities include: * Conducting interviews with victims, witnesses, and subjects—internal and external to IBM—using advanced techniques to gather and distill critical facts. * Collecting and analyzing information to provide senior leaders with insights into IBM's exposures and risks in matters under investigation. * Acting as a liaison with law enforcement and other investigative bodies, maintaining productive partnerships. * Collaborating with forensic and investigative partners and leading investigations to resolution. * Preparing concise, digestible reports for internal, executive, and external audiences. * Providing testimony in legal proceedings as required. * Performing root cause analyses to identify underlying issues, proposing and supervising the implementation of enhancements to IBM’s control posture. * Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and corporate policies when managing and maintaining sensitive information. **Required technical and professional expertise** Security Clearance: This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. government security clearance (or eligibility to obtain one) at the Top Secret level. Location: The successful candidate will work from IBM facilities in Armonk or Yorktown, New York a minimum of three days weekly, and may be required to report to other IBM locations as required. Required Skills & Experience: • Investigation & Security Expertise: 10+ years of experience in complex criminal, espionage, or counterintelligence investigations, with knowledge of law enforcement and corporate security environments. • Interviewing & Case Presentation: Accredited in interrogation techniques and experienced in presenting cases to law enforcement and external authorities. • Technical & Problem-Solving Skills: Proficient in Microsoft and Apple operating systems, with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in information management. • Collaboration & Independence: Self-motivated, capable of independent work, and a strong team player in a small, global environment. • Industry Knowledge & Relationship Management: Understanding of cybercrime trends and ability to build and maintain relationships with internal partners, law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and government bodies. **Preferred technical and professional experience** * Experience in U.S. federal or local law enforcement. * Senior Criminal Investigator experience. * Hands-on review and analysis of large volumes of digital data and proficiency in using analytical tools for data analysis and presentation. * Experience in a multinational corporate security environment. * Engagement with interdisciplinary teams during investigations and projects.
