Senior Inventory Coordinator and Backup Hazmat Driver

The Opportunity:

In this role, you will report to the Supervisor, Onsite Services and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team of over 1,500 on- and off-site expert personnel – and our customers – to perform customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location:  Watertown, MA

Shift: Mon – Fri, 7:30 am – 4 pm

Wage Range: $25 – 27 per hour

What we’re looking for: 

4 years' experience in customer services, purchasing, and/or account management required.

High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree or undergraduate degree in business or science related field is preferred.

Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills required.

Knowledge of ERP Systems.

Excellent customer service skills including a professional can do demeanor is a must have.

Basic purchasing and inventory knowledge required.

CDL A, B, or C license with a Hazmat Endorsement required.

Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) screen required.

Preferred experience in using material handling equipment (pallet jacks, hand trucks, dollies, carts).

Approved DOT physical certification required.

Must be flexible, adaptable, multi-task oriented, and have the confidence to act independently.

Ability to self-manage, prioritize, and be forward thinking.

Strong verbal and written communication skills in order to interact with both customers and various departments within Avantor.

Spill containment, IATA, DOT, and Hazwoper training a plus.

GMP and GLP training a plus.

CPR training and OSHA Right to Know preferred.

Proven time management, forecasting knowledge, and/or expediting experience.

Strong problem-solving & analytical skills.

Solid written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent customer service skills; display a professional can-do attitude.

High regard for safety, quality, and site/customer protocols, policies, and procedures.

Must be able to safely lift 50lbs minimum.

Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.
 

In Sr. Inventory Coordinator role, you will:

Be responsible for inventory management of consumables and chemicals including documenting inventory movement by recording additions, disbursements, adjustments, losses, and removal of items and accurate inventory control, processing requests leading to inventory movement on and off site and fulfilling customer metric reporting.

Prepare inventory reports by collecting and analyzing information on stock usage.

Maintain inventory operations by following policies and procedures as well as reports any changes as needed.

Monitor slow moving and dead inventory, conduct cycle counting, yearly physical inventories, and reporting.

Provide daily customer service functions and communicates with the customer relative to inventory management.

Purchasing functions including but not limited to: back order reporting and expediting, direct factory shipments, 3rd party support, managing quotes, document control, records maintenance, and resolving open invoices or pricing issues.

Provide a high-level of customer service related to functions including but not limited to order entry, reporting, maintaining metrics, and cost savings tracking.

Glass Washing and Autoclaving.

Shipping (IATA/DOT), receiving, internal deliveries, coordination activities such as shipping customer material, handling routine issues, operating basic warehouse equipment, entering shipping information into the customer computer system, and equipment inspections.

Handle hazardous material and prepare shipping documentation and packaging requirements.

Metrics collection and validation.

Freezer and chemical management and support.

Manage consigned, non-consigned, customer owned, and 3rd party inventory.

Utilizes Avantor and customer computer systems (SAP, Citrix, Intranet, Avantor Inventory Management Systems, ChemSW, and customer specific systems) in fulfillment of job duties.

Meets goals and objectives: safety, performance, and quality.

Documents change management.

Updating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures.

Other duties as assigned.

In the Backup Hazmat Driver role, you will:

Manage inventory on and off site.

Transport and delivers goods in accordance with the schedule as determined by the customer.

Ensure good customer relations by consistently delivering orders on time and acting in a deferential and professional manner.

Unload or assist in unloading and loading packages/materials needed.

Verify receipts to ensure damage free products are introduced into our system, discrepancies are properly documented, and accurate records are maintained.

Complete packaging and ship material following the regulatory requirements and transportation guidelines.

Accurately secures loads and ensures loads are within weight limits.

Placarding vehicle as required.

Daily vehicle inspection.

Place all incoming and outgoing materials in appropriates staging and storage locations.

Preserve the quality and integrity of materials while loading and unloading activities occur. Ensure receiving and storage areas are safe, clean, and presentable always.

Operate the delivery truck safely.

Perform desktop deliveries.

Ensure vehicle logs and driving records are present and up to date. Report any vehicle problems and defects to management.

Align with all Department of Transportation (DOT) and other standards and regulations.

Apply placarding when needed and maintains a good driving record.

Bill of Lading creation and metric collections.

Other duties as assigned.
