We are seeking a talented individual to join our Private Debt research team at Mercer. This role will be based in Atlanta or New York. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
Mercer’s Private Debt team is responsible for (i) researching Private Debt investment strategies and investment opportunities, (ii) planning, constructing and managing Private Debt portfolios, and (iii) generating the intellectual capital on Private Debt that supports Mercer’s global Investments platform. The team serves a diverse client base, including both Mercer’s delegated solutions clients and advisory clients - across defined benefit, defined contribution, insurance, endowment & foundations, and wealth management clients.
We will count on you to:
Investment Due Diligence: Lead comprehensive due diligence processes for evaluating and underwriting prospective primary funds, co-investments and secondaries. Responsibilities will include leading onsite manager meetings, planning due diligence and conducting reference calls. You will lead a small project team to produce research reports (both quantitative and qualitative) that summarize your views on a strategy with the intention of determining an appropriate rating for a given fund or a recommendation on a co-investmentPrivate Debt specialist: Act as a specialist in client meetings and prospective pitches by representing the broader business on all matters relating to private debt, including presenting analysis and communicating the opinions of the team in relation to investment opportunities and market viewsSenior stakeholder management: Prepare reports and presentations with relevant commentary and analytics to facilitate transparency and communication with the Investment Committee, Clients and other external parties as requiredPortfolio Monitoring: Monitoring of private debt fundsDevelop the value proposition: Contribute to discussions on the value proposition of our Private Debt business and develop and maintain materials to effectively position the asset class.Intellectual Capital development: Author industry research pieces and whitepapers to position Mercer as a thought-leader in the Private Debt industryWhat you need to have:
7-10 years of experience in Alternative investments, preferably Private Debt and/or Fixed Income, portfolio construction/management, secondaries, co-investments or other relevant experienceExperience at an alternative fund-of-funds manager, or other limited partner (endowment, foundation, pension plan, RIA, insurance company, SWF) or other asset owner, or asset manager, where you have been responsible for capital deployment specifically in private debtAnalytical mind-set with the ability to interpret data and draw meaningful insightsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a teamAbility to train and manage a junior team.Proficiency in Excel and PowerPointWhat makes you stand out:

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.
The applicable base salary range for this role is $126,000 to $252,000.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
