Arlluk Technology Solutions LLC, a Koniag Government Services subsidiary, is seeking skilled professionals to support the Defense Health Agency's Technology Support Branch (TSB) in providing flexible, agile delivery services for various Military Health System (MHS) applications. The role involves working on critical systems such as PCOS, CCQAS, DMHRSi, EAS IV, ESSENCE, and PHIMT, which are essential for managing healthcare claims, provider credentialing, human resources, cost allocation, disease surveillance, and health information management. The ideal candidate will contribute to application development and sustainment, focusing on delivering high-quality solutions across ten core IT domains, including configuration management, cybersecurity, digital transformation, software engineering, and application support. This position requires expertise in agile methodologies and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic military healthcare environment. Arlluk Technology Solutions is seeking a Senior Java Developer to lead and contribute to the development of critical MHS applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Java development, a deep understanding of software architecture, and the ability to mentor junior developers. This role is crucial in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure Java-based solutions that meet the complex needs of the Defense Health Agency. Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to: The Senior Java Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex Java applications within the MHS ecosystem. Key responsibilities include: Lead the design and implementation of robust, scalable Java applications using Java EE technologies and modern frameworks. Architect and develop high-performance, distributed systems that can handle large-scale data processing. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers, including code reviews and best practices guidance. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, proposing optimal technical solutions. Implement advanced security measures to protect sensitive healthcare data and ensure compliance with regulations. Optimize application performance, conduct thorough code reviews, and refactor code for improved efficiency. Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices architectures. Lead the integration of Java applications with various databases, APIs, and third-party systems. Drive the adoption of test-driven development (TDD) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve development processes and application performance. Contribute to high-level technical discussions and architectural decisions. •Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security protocols across the development team. Education and Experience: Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 8-10 years of experience in Java development, or Master's degree in a relevant field with 6-8 years of experience in Java development, or PhD in a relevant field with 3-5 years of experience in Java development Required Skills and Competencies: Extensive experience in Java development, including advanced Java concepts and design patterns Strong proficiency in Java EE technologies and frameworks (e.g., Spring, Hibernate, JPA) In-depth knowledge of web services, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture Experience with cloud-native development and deployment (e.g., AWS, Azure) Proficiency in database design and optimization (SQL and NoSQL) Strong understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns Experience with build tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle) and CI/CD pipelines Expertise in version control systems and branching strategies Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues Excellent communication skills and ability to lead technical discussions Experience mentoring junior developers and promoting best practices Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance Desired Skills and Competencies: Experience working in government or military healthcare environments Knowledge of healthcare IT standards and regulations (e.g., HL7, FHIR, HIPAA) Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) Experience with message queuing systems and event-driven architectures Knowledge of reactive programming and frameworks (e.g., RxJava) Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and their Java APIs Experience with performance tuning and optimization of large-scale Java applications Understanding of machine learning and AI concepts, and their integration with Java applications Knowledge of frontend technologies (e.g., Angular, React) for full-stack development Experience with agile methodologies and project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence) Working Environment & Conditions This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate.
