What You'll Do
As a Senior Knowledge Analyst (SKA) within BCG's Energy Practice Area, you will work in a growing global team, providing industry and/or functional expertise and insights. You will be working together with project and proposal teams and provide input from knowledge databases, own analysis, and expert advisory. You’ll serve as a thought partner and content expert to case teams and topic/sector leaders, helping structure and solve the most relevant issues in the energy industry.
Additionally, you will support BCG's Energy Practice Area by developing existing & new intellectual property and knowledge assets. You will work on commercialization efforts for the topic and sector, supporting marketing efforts, conferences, and publications. As a Senior Knowledge Analyst, you will assist with on-boarding, training and guiding junior colleagues and share best practices within the team.
BCG's Energy Practice Area helps companies navigate an increasingly complex business climate. Our focus areas are 'Integrated Energy Transformation' and 'Low Carbon Energy and Infrastructure', including all \"green energy\" sectors. We work with the full range of players in the industry: oil companies, integrated power and gas utilities, renewable developers, energy wholesalers and retailers, commodity traders, and infrastructure and industry service providers as well as governments and regulators.
What You'll Bring
1-2+ years consulting experience in power markets (modelling) and power generation and particularly conventional technologies; candidates with consulting experience preferredIn lieu of consulting experience, 2+ years minimum industry experience required; 3-6+ years of industry experience strongly preferredBachelor's Degree required (advanced degree preferred)Good understanding of the power sector and its trends, including topics like power market dynamics and regulation, power generation operations (incl. decarbonization and digital applications)Basic know-how about fundamental modelling (stochastic methods, stacked based modelling, merit order) and familiarity with standard industry tools such as PLEXOS, BID 3, Origin etcProficiency in English; other languages valuable (e.g., German)Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholder while working in a global collaborative team environmentStrong Python skills and excellent navigation through MS applications, more particularty PowerPoint and Excel, know-how of other analytical tools such as Alteryx, Tableau will be a plus.

The Knowledge Team (KT) is a group of functional and/or industry experts leveraging deep domain knowledge to enable insight for project teams and clients. KT members are affiliated to BCG Practice Areas, plugged into the strategic agenda and building and deploying leading edge IP data tools/assets to deliver insight.
BCG's Knowledge Team members are staffed on projects and help co-create insights with project teams and clients through expert perspectives on industry trends, delivery of proprietary data or tools in a particular function and complex research and analysis of market information. KT members also support the Practice Area’s business development and proposals and help to organize and codify the knowledge that enables BCG to deliver superior business value for its clients.
