Senior Lab Responsible

The importance of electromobility is expanding rapidly, with the Energy Storage System (ESS) being a pivotal element of the electrified powertrain. We are the Energy Storage Systems (ESS) Lab & Data group within the Electromobility Complete Physical & Virtual Verification & Validation organization, tasked with overseeing the ESS lab and verification data infrastructure. We are currently seeking a Lab Responsible Engineer to manage the lab facilities for verification and data production for all components within the Volvo Group Energy Storage Systems, including cell, module, and BMS components.  
 

Main responsibilities: 
You are enthusiastic about continuous improvement and dedicated to creating valuable solutions for our company. You will lead and develop the annual lab service and maintenance cycle, ensuring safety routines are consistently followed and updated. You will also lead and enhance the Ways of Working (WoW) in the lab by taking ownership of the lab development roadmap. 

 

The role includes (but not limited to) the following tasks: 
•    Set and follow-up safety procedures, risk assessments & working procedures in lab  
•    Lead technical work in procurement of instruments 
•    Set service & maintenance schedule of instruments 
•    Set and follow up test request procedures, schedule tests 
•    Evaluate external test institutes in terms of technical performance 
•    Lead lab development incl. setting up new labs 
•    Handle lab development roadmap, including investment needs 
•    Development of automated rigs 
 
Requirements:
We believe you should have over 8 years of experience in automotive verification and automated test systems. Experience in managing a lab and/or electromobility verification, particularly in battery verification, is highly desirable. You must be a proven leader with strategic ability, yet also hands-on and capable of performing the work yourself. To succeed in this role, you need a structured approach with keen attention to detail, while also being able to step back to see the big picture and understand the overall direction.
