Your Role:
The Senior Laboratory Asset Specialist is an essential member of the Laboratory Operations team at the EMD Serono Research & Development Institute, Inc. The primary role is to manage the proper operation of the lab equipment located within the Flow Core Laboratories (Cell sorters and Flow Cytometers), manage the distribution and storage of compounds via the proper operation of a Hamilton Verso compound store, and support the coordination, scheduling, and recordkeeping of preventative maintenance by OEMs for approximately 100 lab instruments.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Compound Logistics (15%)
Operate the Hamilton Verso M2, including adding new compounds, removing, and distributing compounds to scientists, maintaining the inventory via the Company LIMS (MOSAIC) system.Coordinate and collaborate with Global Compound Logistics Team in Germany for incoming compounds and troubleshooting.Work directly with Hamilton to ensure Preventive Maintenance is being completed as required and contracted and work with Hamilton technical support for any troubleshooting.Flow Core Laboratory (35%)
Perform basic critical maintenance of the instruments in the flow core laboratories, including cell sorters and flow cytometers. Maintenance may include daily, weekly, and monthly routine calibrations and cleanings.Perform basic troubleshooting and coordinate directly with OEMs for any repairs.Coordinate and schedule directly with OEMs the required Preventative Maintenance for the instruments; maintain service contacts with OEMs.Coordinate directly with the scientists the scheduled use of the instruments.Track the usage of instruments.Manage the ordering and use of consumables required for the instruments.Develop SOPs for the routine basic maintenance of the instruments.Laboratory Asset Operations (50%)
Coordinate and schedule the required preventative maintenance of specialized laboratory assets that have OEM service agreements.Communicate and coordinate directly with end users to ensure down time of asset is properly planned.Track all records associated with the laboratory assets via the inhouse EMaint Lab Asset Management tool; records may include asset number, location, make, model, serial number, PM schedule, work orders, manuals, service records, etc.Work with department Purchasing specialists to ensure service contacts are renewed and maintained as needed, POs are administered, and invoices are paid accordingly.General Laboratory Operations Support (As Needed)
Support the overall success of the Laboratory Operations team by assisting as needed with other lab operations tasks.Participate in rotating Laboratory Operations on call schedule.Liaise with other teams within Site Operations and support department projects and cross functional tasks.
Physical Attributes:
Wear lab coats, safety shoes, disposable gloves, and eye protection.Lift up to 30 pounds.Push or pull cart, dolly, or pallet jack of materials up to 400 pounds.
Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Biology, Mechanical Engineering, or other Life Science or Engineering discipline and 3+ years of experience working within and supporting biopharma or life science research laboratories.OR
Associates Degree in Biology, Mechanical Engineering, or other Life Science or Engineering discipline and 5+ years of experience working within and supporting biopharma or life science research laboratories. 2+ years of experience managing vendors and contractors.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using flow cytometry and cell sorting instruments. Experience using Hamilton automation instruments.Experience troubleshooting lab equipment. Experience working within the LIMS MOSAIC system.Experience working within an Asset Management.Experience with Computerize Maintenance Management System.Experience obtaining and maintaining safety and compliance certifications.
