Who We Are

At Kyndryl, we design, build, manage and modernize the mission-critical technology systems that the world depends on every day. So why work at Kyndryl? We are always moving forward – always pushing ourselves to go further in our efforts to build a more equitable, inclusive world for our employees, our customers and our communities.

The Role

The Storage Team at Skytap by Kyndryl is seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer to help build and maintain our software-defined storage infrastructure.

Come help us develop storage at scale! We use Python-based containerized services to manage storage for millions of created VMs across many data centers and multiple operating systems, hypervisors, and even architectures. Our ZFS installation is one of the largest that exists, our systems have great uptime, our team communicates well, we use or invent the right tools for the job, and we occasionally do things nobody else in the world is doing.

This position is for a Python programmer who is passionate about designing, deploying, and maintaining an evolving and unique platform. You’ll be working with a strong team of experienced engineers to ensure our global storage footprint is running efficiently, securely, and with all the features our customers depend on. You’ll be responsible for figuring out how to build new features and how to improve existing systems to meet the complex needs of our customers.

Responsibilities will include:

Writing elegant, maintainable Python code

Developing and maintaining our Production software and servers

Sharing a reasonable on-call rotation  with the team

Bug fixes related to nightly build failures

Developing and operating Ansible and Puppet automations

Remediate issues occurring in Integration and Test stack

Updates across the code base to meet compliance objectives

Code reviews for projects ongoing across the team

Assisting team by writing smaller units of code for larger projects

Modernizing legacy scripts for higher security and easier maintainability

Improving the CI/CD pipelines we use to test changes to storage services

Building more feature flags or other process improvements into our release pipeline

Identifying, tracking, and remediating bugs observed by our monitoring stack

Creating and improving capacity management modeling and tools

Automating away manual processes
