Job responsibilities

Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software  Development Life Cycle Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies Adds to the team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect Executes creative data solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others Expert in data intensive distributed and complex application development Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of highly data intensive and distributed System Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability Advanced in one or more programming language(s) Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field Results-oriented Data Engineer with a proven track record in delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions based on Cockroach DB implementations in distributed RDBMS system of record applications. Advance level expertise in Cockroach DB for multi-region architecture, performance optimization, query plan analysis, high availability and disaster recover etc. Good understanding in Java, Spring Framework, and Micro-services architecture to build secure and data resilient system with strong communication skills Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.) In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills Practical cloud native experience - AWS is preferred Hands on experience in AWS Cloud Payments processing domain knowledge
