The Senior Learning and Development Consultant (L&D) is responsible for ensuring the successful development and deployment of onboarding and training programs to the Field Ops organization. The consultant will facilitate a full range of evolving and dynamic learning and performance solutions/programs while providing advice on learning strategies and solutions.
In addition, the consultant plays an active role in supporting the deployment and knowledge retention of onboarding and training programs. This role will be required to maintain training sites, help establish proper measurements for learning, sustainment and retention programs, while building strong internal relationships and driving adherence to process and best practices.
Finally, this team member will deliver learning that builds the organization's knowledge and skills, enabling our business to achieve desired business outcomes through its people. Responsible for supporting the delivery of learning experiences with the goal of fostering individual and organizational learning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Training program development:
Design and develop comprehensive learning materials and training programs for deployment, along with creating learning reinforcement tools such as job aids and instructional videos. Content design and development for multiple programs through a variety of formal and informal learning channels. This includes instructor-led, web-based, virtual and other delivery approaches. Lead the formulation of new procedures and update existing ones that require modifications. Strong ability to recognize gaps in training presentations and materials, and willingness to engage leadership with suggested enhancements. Perform administrative functions such as maintaining learning sites that include GTES and JAM page rosters, content review and updates, and the managing of training calendars and leads. Develop partnerships with Human Resources and with the Grainger L&D function to understand how team member experience can be improved.Facilitation:
Conduct onboarding and training sessions in either a virtual or live format, presenting material in a structured manner to ensure knowledge retention. Create an engaging learning environment where participants are eager to contribute. Reinforce training knowledge and workplace skills, while identifying areas for improvement. Provide ongoing targeted performance coaching during and post training periods with focus on enabling learners to achieve defined performance metrics. Develops an effective onboarding program that minimizes the time needed to prepare team members for their roles.Communication:
Performs needs assessments and analyzes the most effective method of deploying the recommended change(s) through clear communication channel. Build and support the implementation of effective training, communication, adoption and change management plans. Develop productive working relationships at corporate and field levels to drive awareness and consistency in execution of Field Ops initiatives. Prioritizing work to meet aggressive deadlines. Other duties as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
5-6 years of learning and development experience (including facilitation, content creation and management of learning and development content) Post-secondary degree or diploma in business, adult learning/education, organizational development, or instructional design is an asset (or equivalent experience will be considered). Exceptional communication skills - crisp and articulate verbal skills in addition to effective written communication required. Highly energized, team players have a propensity to work collaboratively while working from a virtual location. Demonstrated success in training team members live and through virtual methods with confident presentation skills. Must be flexible, proactive and creative, open to change and willing to raise potential knowledge gaps to leadership. Has solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Knowledge of learning and development platforms would be an asset Bilingualism (English and French) considered an asset
Travel might be required – 20% - 30% travel to various customer sites and branch locations nationally
