Senior Legal Counsel - Energy Services

We’re looking for a Senior Legal Counsel (Renewable Energy Services). You will be responsible for provision of legal support to the Renewable Energy Services division, ensuring alignment with business strategy to drive performance and to grow rapidly in support of the energy transition. As a member of the Energy Services leadership team, you will be responsible for all legal matters in the Energy Services division – covering a range of renewable energy and storage solutions.  We are looking for candidates based in the UK. 

What you’ll do:

You will work closely with the Renewable Energy Services senior leadership to deliver legal advice to our renewable energy/energy transition team.  You will also be a trusted source of knowledge for the wider business based on your experience in the renewable energy sector.You will support commercial and contractual negotiations with customers and suppliers, including drafting and review of non-disclosure agreements; power purchase agreements/corporate power purchase agreements, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreements, operations and maintenance (O&M) agreements, tender documentation; procurement contracts; service level agreements; warranty documents and performance guarantees.Provide legal support on financing of projects.Ensure that contracts provide appropriate protection to Aggreko in line with group standards.You will deliver advice in a commercially relevant manner, comprehensible and easy to use, in line with current market norms, and aligned to the commercial aspects of the deal.You will provide training and guidance to colleagues on legal developments and best practices relevant to our Renewable Energy Services division.You will ensure the appropriate levels of governance are applied to guarantee legal compliance across Energy Services including ethics, anti-bribery and corruption, engagement of intermediaries and consultants in conjunction with Group Compliance Director.You will establish budget for the Renewable Energy Services legal function and drive value for money.You will monitor changes in relevant legislation and regulatory environments, assessing the impact on the business and taking appropriate action.

You’ll have the following skills and experience:

Functional experience. You will be qualified to practice law in the UK.  You will have post-qualification experience having in-house experience to a senior level in-house with a multinational company in the renewable energy, energy transition sector (or related area).Financing experience. You will have recent experience in project financing renewable power assets in the fast-evolving UK renewable, power (or related) market.Technical expertise.  You will be a highly skilled legal professional with the proven ability to quickly assess and understand any number of complex legal issues across the business and provide commercial solutions.  Strong analytical and innovative legal skills, attention to detail and commitment to quality work product.Commercial acumen. You will have well-developed commercial awareness with an outcome-orientated and solution-based approach, able to apply legal principles pragmatically. Understanding the importance of ensuring the legal function advises the business from a commercial standpoint.International legal experience/exposure is desirable.
