Senior Legal Manager (Fixed Term Contract)

As second in charge of the ANZ Legal team and a member of the ANZ Operating Leadership Team, provide leadership, mentorship and strategic legal advice on a broad range of issues to the ANZ BU. Lead lawyer for the ANZ FOBO beverages operations (Franchise function and Beverages Marketing), as well as Legal lead for Agronomy team. Supports the ANZ BU on a wide variety of strategic projects. Key Responsibilities: Senior leader for ANZ BU – member of the ANZ Operating Leadership Team and second in charge of legal team. Legal partner for Agronomy function, working closely on potato purchase agreements, seed procurement, agronomy strategy and general agronomy matters. ANZ BU Franchise Legal lead. Partnering closely with Franchise team on bottler strategy, drafting, negotiation and execution of franchise/bottler documentation such as Exclusive Bottling Appointments, Business Performance Agreements, Concentrate Marketing Agreements, Coop Agreements and Distribution Agreements. Markets covered include Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Fiji. Beverages Marketing: sole legal support to Beverages Marketing team. Reviewing all marketing collateral and advising on high profile and high stakes marketing campaigns. Legal lead for PLI Lipton business. Including review of all marketing collaterals, negotiating, drafting and execution of franchise/bottler documentation such as Exclusive Bottling Appointments, Business Performance Agreements, Concentrate Supply Agreements, Coop Agreements, Distribution Agreements. Legal Support on ANZ BU strategic projects, including major capital works, property leases, sustainability initiatives, business strategies, M&A opportunities, complex renewable energy arrangements, expansion into new areas of business. Lead and manage the drafting and negotiation of contracts with the Procurement team, including supply and purchasing contracts, contract manufacture agreements and indirect supply agreements up to a value of $10MM Crisis management: Support with investigations related to quality issues, recalls and general crisis management. Ensuring compliance with Regulatory reporting obligations, such as Modern Slavery and Climate Reporting. Oversee and manage external counsel engagement on larger projects. Provide education and training to the ANZ BU on compliance matters including Anti Bribery, Anti-trust, competition, Privacy, ESG and consumer law Provide legal advice on commercial disputes Ensure compliance in all areas creating potential exposure for PepsiCo People Management: Support the professional growth and development of direct report Demonstrate and exercise a commitment to promote, develop and improve the health, safety and welfare of our people. About you: Legal qualification (plus higher degree preferred), including current Australian practicing certificate General commercial background, expertise and experience in competition and consumer law preferred 8-10 years of corporate/commercial law experience, preferably in-house in a multi-national food and beverage company or an FMCG company Solid experience in corporate legal environments with a good understanding of regulatory and compliance environments. Strong analytical, communication and negotiation skills Highly proactive and maturity to engage with senior stakeholders and understand complex business transactions Managing multiple stakeholders, including balancing legal risk with commercial objectives Ensuring legal governance is appropriately applied to all ANZ activities.
