POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer Consultant for our Overhead Transmission design team. The candidate will work in the Power Delivery Overhead Transmission Line Department in our Austin, TX office. This position has a flexible work schedule. Part-time and temporary options are available.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, supporting, and coordinating the following:
POWER Culture Department alignment with POWER’s Culture Codes Contribute to the growth of POWER’s Culture through strong leadership characteristics Encourage growth, engagement, and accountability Maintain a healthy relationship with colleagues and foster areas of improvement where needed Project Support Collaborate with engineers, drafters, and designers on engineering projects and interface directly with the client Participate in weekly or bi-weekly project meetings to provide guidance and feedback on the project team’s progress Facilitate and adhere to POWER’s QA/QC procedure to ensure the correct personnel is performing the required QA/QC review Participate in industry conferences, both internal and external, to improve professional growth while fostering knowledge transfer to colleagues Develop Transmission Line design knowledge pertaining to PLS-CADD, structure staking, foundations, assembly drawings, steel pole performance loading, material procurement, construction specification, and construction support Conduct Independent Reviews for projects and provide your feedback directly to the project teams Participate in Design Challenge Sessions that are hosted by the various project teams Serve as a Project Advisor for less experienced project engineers. Support their efforts to effectively manage their projects Attend field visits with staff during design and construction Staff Mentorship Support Participate in recurring teaching sessions with staff. Prepare presentations to cover various design topics and foster knowledge sharing Be available to answer questions and provide support to staff on an as needed basis Support mentorship initiatives including but not limited to Lunch and Learns, Whiteboard Sessions, department training programs, etc. Required Education/Experience: Professional Engineering licensure Bachelor of Science in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel. Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite At least 10 years of experience in the design of overhead High Voltage and Extra High Voltage transmission lines including route selection, line and structure spotting, structure design and analysis, and development of construction bid packages PLS-CADD proficiency Experience managing projects and leading multi-disciplined teams Preferred Education/Experience: Electric utility industry experience Experience using POLE, TOWER and FAD Tools software packages Cost estimating and schedulingAt POWER Engineers, you can have a rewarding career on every level.
