Position Title: SENIOR LIBRARY CLERK (10.5 months per year)
Anticipated Location/Hours: Sidway 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Anticipated Starting Date: ASAP
Salary: $22.39 per hour/per SRP Contract
This position plays a vital role in fostering a love of reading and learning among our Pre-K
through 1st-grade students. We are looking for a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented individual who enjoys
working with young children and contributing to a positive school environment.
Qualifications:
1. Reachable on the Civil Service Sr. Library Clerk list
2. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and one (1) year of experience in library clerical work, that includes keyboarding/typing
3. Proficient in Microsoft Office database, spreadsheet, word processing
4. Ability to understand and follow oral/written instructions; ability to write legibly; clerical aptitude; mental alertness; neatness; tact and courtesy
5. Strong computer skills: It is highly desirable that the applicant be proficient in aspects of a library automation system (such as Follett Destiny or similar software).
6. Able to take initiative to make the library a true resource
Duties:
1. Use appropriate software for cataloging, processing library materials, patron circulation, overdue notices, statistics, reports, inventory, etc.
2. Order library materials and supplies
3. Manage inventory and track overdue materials.
4. Create database and spreadsheet files
5. Organize and maintain the library collection, including cataloging and shelving books.
6. Student supervision
7. Assist students and staff with locating and checking out library materials
8. Tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor
9. Support library programs, read-aloud sessions, and student activities.
10. Proven ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff, students and parents
11. Maintain a welcoming and organized library environment.
12. Experience working with young children in an educational setting is preferred.
