Senior Machine Learning (ML) Engineer

The AI Personalization, Feedback, and Analytics team ensures that Security Copilot, Microsoft's GenAI platform, delivers adaptive and intelligent experiences by leveraging feedback loops, analytics, and personalization techniques. Our focus areas include: Building AI-driven personalization engines that dynamically tailor responses, recommendations, and learning experiences based on user interactions. Developing tools that enable human-in-the-loop manual tagging, automated tagging, and signal generation to refine model quality through reinforcement learning. Delivering user analytics and predictive insights to empower multiple stakeholders: Product teams for strategic decision-making. Engineering teams to optimize AI-driven customer interactions. Developers to enhance user experiences through guided recommendations. Role Overview We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning (ML) Engineer to help drive AI personalization and intelligence for Security Copilot. In this role, you will leverage data-driven insights to refine AI models, enhance user-specific experiences, and inform product strategy. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and researchers to define key metrics, conduct experiments, and analyze data that shape the evolution of our platform. _Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond._ **Responsibilities** + Define and track key success metrics for AI-driven personalization, feedback loops, and model adaptation. + Analyze large-scale user interaction data to drive AI improvements and refine response quality. + Build and maintain data pipelines and dashboards for real-time model monitoring and decision-making. + Develop and deploy ML models that optimize AI-driven recommendations and personalized experiences. + Design A/B tests to evaluate feature rollouts and measure impact on user engagement. + Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate AI-driven insights into Security Copilot's core functionalities. + Communicate insights effectively to leadership and cross-functional teams using dashboards, reports, and presentations. **Qualifications** **Required/Minimum Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR equivalent experience. **Other Requirements:** + Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.  **Additional or Preferred Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR equivalent experience. + Experience in AI personalization, user behavior analytics, or recommender systems. Familiarity with Azure ML, Synapse, and experimentation frameworks. Background in cybersecurity, SaaS, or enterprise AI solutions. Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
