This department is responsible for maintaining and improving City facilities to ensure safe and efficient operations. This position focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC systems in City buildings to support occupant comfort and system reliability. What you’ll be doing: + Performing preventive maintenance, repairs, and installations of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. + Monitoring, adjusting, and programming controls for HVAC systems, including JCI Metasys and similar systems. + Diagnosing and correcting airflow and temperature issues to optimize building comfort. + Conducting inspections to identify potential problems, unsafe conditions, and required repairs. + Replacing air filters, cleaning condensers and evaporator coils, and ensuring refrigerant levels are correct. + Coordinating with supervisors to schedule and complete preventive maintenance tasks as required. + Operating and maintaining tools and equipment necessary for HVAC maintenance and repair. + Keeping accurate records of work performed using the City’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). + Providing technical expertise and support to coworkers, including training on HVAC systems and procedures. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered: + Job requirements: + High school diploma or equivalent. + Completion of technical school training in HVAC systems. + Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HVAC system maintenance and repair. + Possession and maintenance of a valid state driver’s license and EPA license. + Familiarity with HVAC control programming (e.g., JCI Metasys). + Performance aptitudes: + Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and repairing HVAC systems. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals. + Proficiency in using tools and software for maintenance and record-keeping. + Physical requirements: + Ability to exert physical effort, including stooping, kneeling, climbing, and lifting materials under 30 pounds. + Sensory abilities for detecting system issues, such as changes in sounds, odors, or visual cues.
