Senior Manager, Accounting

The Senior Manager, Accounting position is responsible for leading and overseeing a team of accounting professionals within Community Finance and serves as the finance liaison with owners/boards as well as Community and LCS leadership. A strong knowledge of the portfolio of communities supported by the manager’s team members will be necessary to assist business partners in making informed decisions and driving performance results.

The Role: 

Manages a team of Community Finance Accountants Supervises, hires, evaluates and sets performance expectations and goals for individual team members Coaches and provides career development advice Trains or oversees the development of new accountants Develops and recommends changes to procedures and system documentation to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the department Develops and recommends changes to procedures to create and/or improve the control structure to create confidence in the accuracy and timeliness of reporting Assists team members as needed in responding to community requests; assists in resolving unusual or complex problems Provides assistance, guidance, and support for the essential duties and responsibilities of an accountant. Fills in during accountant vacancies (or creates a plan working with peers/management to address the vacancy). (See Accountant job description) Ensures the close and all reporting timelines for communities are met monthly (currently Business Day 5) Ensures reconciliation deadlines are also met monthly and LCS standards are followed Regularly communicates with leadership regarding any material variances or community-specific needs. Identifies and executes department initiatives, including direct interaction with senior leadership to outline goals and objectives of such initiatives Will be the face of Community Finance with the partners/owners for multiple communities. This role will help bridge the gap for the partner/owner representatives across multiple teams and streamline communication on behalf of individual community support teams Contributes as an active member to the Community Finance team. Performs as a department team member by assisting co-workers with overloads as time permits, training new co-workers, and contributing to team projects Assists with policy and procedure and best practice documentation to improve the operating quality and effectiveness of the department Trains LCS and community employees on financial systems and other financial topics Assists with the design, development, and roll-out of new or enhanced financial systems including updates to instructions, enhancements to models and testing changes Updates and/or creates Community Finance models and reporting tools Presents at conferences and trainings Completes special projects, as requested or assigned

 

Experience and Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience required. Minimum of 8 years of related experience with at least three years of people leadership experience. Familiarity with CCRC and/or long-term care industries preferred. Experience in accrual based accounting required. Working knowledge of accounting systems (Accounts Payable, Payroll, Billing, General Ledger, Reconciliation Review) required. Must be proficient with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, etc.).

Flexible and able to handle changing priorities and interruptions Ability to manage staff several team members and foster a cooperative work environment Demonstrates exceptional performance in people leadership Ability to develop, plan, and implement short term goals Ability to interact with a wide range of people including field personnel, partner/owners, auditors, and all levels of LCS personnel Must possess analytical and problem-solving skills necessary to solve accounting problems of medium difficulty Solid understanding of customer service principles, and the ability to apply them. Strong oral and written communication skills. Use of proper grammar, content, and identified standards/format. Ability to handle multiple responsibilities, prioritize work schedules, and complete tasks by desired due dates. Strong time management and organizational skills with willingness to work additional hours as needed to meet organizational deadlines

Estimated Salary Range: $96,000 - $120,000
