Job Description
The Senior Manager of Accounting will lead the financial reporting and review of transactional activity for multiple companies across Otsuka US affiliates that are supported by the OAPI finance/accounting team. This will include partnering with internal management and owning the relationship with external auditors. It requires knowledge of IFRS, proficiency with Microsoft Excel, and ability to understand and utilize financial systems. Primary responsibilities include:

Preparation and review of monthly required journal entriesPreparation and review of monthly required account reconciliationsMonthly preparation of required reporting to JapanQuarterly preparation and coordination of balance sheet fluxAssisting with ad-hoc projects requiring accounting and reporting supportPreparation of multiple annual financial statements and completion of disclosure checklistsProvide quarterly training on specific topics to business partnersQuarterly CRO assessment and memo documentationBusiness owner and maintenance of establishment of account reconciliations in Blackline including monthly monitoring of completion and designation of risk and frequencyImplement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce risksCollaborate with the offshore accounting team to ensure high-quality and timely delivery of accounting tasksProvide guidance, set clear expectations, and monitor performance.Foster a culture of continuous learning and development.Ensure all accounting activities comply with internal policies and external regulations.Support internal and external audits, providing required documentation and addressing audit findings.Responsible for reconciliation and review of grants received and release of restricted fundingIdentify opportunities to enhance accounting processes, leveraging technology and automationAbility to analyze agreements and contracts for digital application development and analyze to determine software capitalization requirements and revenue recognitionDrive implementation of best practices to improve accuracy and efficiencyQualifications/ Required
Knowledge/ Experience and Skills:
Knowledge
Experience and proven success in establishing accounting policies.Knowledge of accounting practices, including technical documentation, accounting processes, month end closing and reportingStrong communication skills required; must have the ability to communicate effectivelyStrong organizational skills with the ability to independently manage and prioritize workloadDemonstrate a positive attitude and have an appetite for changeExperience interacting with senior level clients and vendors; able to evaluate situations from multiple angles and sensitive to stakeholders needs while maintaining focus on bring the best value to the organizationUnderstands key financial and operational controls needed in a accounting organization in the Pharmaceutical industry.Skills and Experience
Minimum of 8+ years of Accounting experience including the ability to strategize and lead.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA a plus8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.Ability to lead and influence a team.Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and relevant accounting standards.Experience managing offshore teams and working in a global environment.Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive cross-functional collaboration.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or relevant technical expertise. Advanced degree (MBA/MS) preferred.
