Job Description
The Senior Manager, Accounting Policy & Advisory - Sustainability will be responsible for the development of an internal control framework supporting sustainability reporting and the research, review, and monitoring of sustainability standards. This role aims to enhance our sustainability reporting function by extending our current “best in class” financial reporting model. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in internal control and accounting policy, preferably with investment products, and proven experience in supporting sustainability reporting and policy review from a Finance perspective. The candidate should be highly motivated, possess strong communication skills, and be able to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
ResponsibilitiesReview and monitor sustainability standards including those from the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and the Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) standards.Determine applicable disclosure requirements from the ISSB/CSSB and develop processes that ensure disclosures are complete and accurate.Perform benchmarking reviews of sustainability disclosures to ensure the implementation of industry best practices and recommend improvements.Participate in the preparation of implementation white papers and policies to document our position on applicable sustainability standards.Develop the internal control framework for sustainability reporting using best practices from Finance’s financial reporting framework. Develop and conduct training sessions on required internal controls.Liaise with external auditors in the coordination and execution of the assurance process on our emissions reporting.Provide oversight and controls over sustainability disclosures related to the annual report and sustainability report.Be a subject matter expert in sustainability reporting and participate in preparing educational materials for key stakeholders.Provide input to the governance of sustainability reporting and prepare materials for stakeholders including management and board levels.Prepare and/or review applicable process documentation supporting the development of the internal control framework.Partner with the Sustainable Investing team to provide finance support on the sustainable investing strategic project.Other projects and responsibilities as assigned.Essential SkillsA professional accounting designation (i.e., CPA) in good standing from a recognized accountancy body.8+ years of related industry experience, preferably in asset management or financial services industry.Strong accounting policy skills with proven experience in the implementation of new accounting standards.Experience in developing and documenting sustainability reporting policies and procedures.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with financial reporting and sustainability reporting.Knowledge of IFRS and other relevant reporting standards.Experience with internal control frameworks and audit processes.Familiarity with climate-related financial disclosures and sustainability standards such as PCAF and TCFD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00
