Responsible for driving AI risk governance activities and contributes to the overall success of the Data and AI Risk team in Canada and globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. The Senior Manager will work with the Director and the team to ensure that the Bank’s exposure to AI risk is effectively identified, measured, monitored and remediated.
Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
Support the implementation of the AI Risk Program Plan and associated activities in the assigned North American and/or International Scotiabank business unit(s), and/or subsidiaries. Provide expertise and advice to the first line of defense on the design and best practices of effective AI risk controls, metrics, compliance, and risk mitigation. Design and implement AI risk frameworks, policies, procedures and processes in collaboration with risk partners e.g., Global Operations, Third Party Management, Privacy and Chief AI Office, etc., and based on industry best practices. Identify opportunities and execute enhancement to the AI risk oversight practice including global AI risk management approach. Drive the development and delivery of communication strategies for new processes and procedures. Develop and deliver AI risk management training across the organization. Develop strong partnerships with other risk functions and business partners to provide professional advice and guidelines for AI risk mitigation. Conduct assessment of the design and operating effectiveness of AI controls developed and implemented by the first line of defense. Maintain and enhance AI risk documentation (procedures, assessments, testing and reporting). Assist in execution of the periodical and ad-hoc reporting to the Board, CRO, Risk Committees, including collection of metrics and creation of dashboards and reports. Contribute to the development of AI risk metrics and monitor relevant metrics for assigned portfolio. Collaborate with key stakeholders to design and develop AI risk awareness training. Exercise sound judgment in identifying, reporting, and escalating risks or issues to senior management. Foster an inclusive and collaborative team environment and prioritize team’s goals. Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
Has an undergraduate and/or graduate degree. At least 5 years of relevant AI risk, AI governance or other fields that provides excellent exposure to machine learning and AI methods. Knowledge of AI risks and emerging AI requirements and regulations e.g., EU AI Act, AI NIST. Experience in AI risk training and communication. Familiarity with AI risk management and reporting regulations, standards, and guidelines for the financial sector. Strong communication and relationship skills with a proven track record of engaging and presenting to stakeholders.
