Job Description
Directs, plans, organizes and evaluates the Quality Management, and laboratory safety staff. Oversees the monitoring and documenting of quality assurance and quality improvement activities for the Laboratory.
Job Responsibility
•Develops, communicates, and builds consensus for goals in alignment with system
•Provides leadership to team members, supervisors, and managers by communicating and guiding toward achieving department objectives with either small portfolios at multiple sites or a single, larger portfolio
•Identifies opportunities to initiate operational change within a department
•Assists leadership in setting strategic direction for key programs
•Responsible for performance reviews, corrective actions, promotional decisions, and pay actions for direct reports
• Directs the development and implementation of Performance Improvement plans and quality monitors.
• Ensures Laboratory’s compliance with all regulatory standards including but not limited to: NYSDOH, CAP, OSHA, FDA, JCAHO, governing the Clinical Lab.
• Follows up on Quality Assurance/Quality Management issues.
• Provides direction and guidance to exempt specialist, supervisory, and/or middle management personnel who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignment.
•Competent to work at very high levels in multiple knowledge areas or functions
•Regularly collaborates work with leadership and others outside of own function
Responsible for acquiring and managing staffing appropriately for department(s) and collaborating with HR to fulfill requirements
•Typically responsible for managing team members and executing policies at multiple sites or a single, larger portfolio
•Responsible for performance reviews, corrective actions, promotional decisions, and pay actions for direct reports
•Manages budget expenditures for teams and/or large projects

Job Qualification
• Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Current license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
• 6-10 years of technical experience and 5-7 years of leadership / management experience, required.
