Scope of Position Working with Thin Films and Coatings capability group, define coating materials and process parameters based on manufacturing coater capabilities Integrate product and process development working with cross-functional thin films/coatings, optics, mechanical reliability and modeling team Define fundamental understanding driving to the selection of specific parameters to align with manufacturing capabilities while meeting target product attributes Lead Development team with hypothesis tree, experimental plan, data set analysis and conclusion Identify, understand and use internal and external capabilities and competencies (at CM and OEM) Understand CM Operations and cost drivers Understand customers requirements and define technology solutions with program manager Deliver document of transfer of technology (internal and external) Define next generation requirements and acceptance criteria to Thin Films and Coatings capabilities scientists Identify potential risks and devise mitigation plans Receive coating proof of principle and product attributes from Thin Films and Coatings capability group Provide feedbacks to Thin Films and Coatings capabilities scientists on required optimization Day-to-Day Responsibilities Deliver on time and budget Identify resource gap (material fundamentals, capability, competency) and close as necessary Lead Data-Oriented Development team to the objectives Transfer technology to Engineering (internal) and in collaboration with Engineering (external) Travel requirements: Up to 50% travel, including international Required Education and Experience MS or PhD in physics, optics, materials or related technical field Minimum 5 years extensive experience in composite materials, coating processes, materials characterization Experience in new product and process development Strong technical background and knowledge of thin films process, materials science, structure properties relationship fundamentals, coating equipment

The range for this position is $162,869.00 - $223,945.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
