About the Role
The Senior Manager, Copy oversees copywriting and editing for Williams Sonoma and Williams Sonoma Home. Working cross-functionally with our partners in website operations, creative, merchandising, and PR, the Senior Manager writes, reviews, assigns and edits copy across marketing channels, including PIPs (Product Information Pages), catalog, retail signage, email marketing. brand packaging and special projects. This position reports to the Director, Creative Services.
Responsibilities
Performance Management Oversee direct reports (including PIP editors and proofreaders), facilitating information-gathering with cross-functional teams Supervise freelance copy team, creating copy briefs, gathering information, assigning work, and editing copy as needed Ensure projects meet business and creative deadlines Continually maintain, drive and evolve team processes to support creative efficiencies and standards — including the exploration of time-saving AI tools Guide and develop the copy team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and growth Brand Voice Management Oversee the expression of Williams Sonoma and Williams Sonoma Home voice, tone, and messaging on PIPs to engage, inform and inspire customers Create and maintain copy style guides for Williams Sonoma and Williams Sonoma Home Writing and editing Work with PIP editors to develop and implement copy templates that highlight design, quality and craftsmanship Write and proofread copy Ensure consistent messaging across channels Optimize copy for SEO best practices in collaboration with SEO, site ops, and Content Director Work closely with the Sustainability team to efficiently market sustainability certifications, updating website and PIP pages each quarter
Criteria
Bachelor’s degree in English, literature, communications, journalism, marketing or related field 10+ years writing experience in a lead copywriting role for an agency or brand (required) Experience managing freelance writers (required) Excellent creative writing, research and editing abilities Highly organized and detail-oriented Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style and AP Style Prior experience working on highly recognized, industry-leading brands (preferred) Knowledge of food/cooking/entertaining (preferred) Knowledge of SEO writing best practices Experience working with content management systems and Figma Exceptional resourcefulness and ability to find solutions to complex issues Ability to think conceptually, ensuring creative tone/voice support the brand voice and key objectives of the season—and are appropriate for all channels Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional partners and ensure copy/voice align with brand strategies A commitment to being a self-starter and staying focused in an extremely fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Excellent prioritization skills, with ability to handle multiple projects across several seasons/packets/channels Experience working with all levels of business partners Exceptional teamwork and project management skills A creative, positive and flexible attitude This role requires being onsite in the Van Ness office Monday through Thursday

The expected starting pay range for this position is $120,000 - $125,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
