Responsible for the writing integrity of marketing and creative projects and programs through strategic direction, development of cohesive writing concepts, and seamless execution. You will effectively position client’s competitive strengths based on in-depth knowledge of client products and services, competitive landscape, industry, audience and overall business environment and objectives. You will ensure all writing deliverables are consistent with the client’s written quality and consistency standards. You will successfully deliver on a range of channel deliverables, including but not limited to print, digital, web, and video assets. You will manage daily functions of the writing team, ensuring the implementation of operational, staffing, organizational, and professional development best practices. You will inspire innovative, thoughtful, tactical, and strategic-level thinking across the team. You will create and promote a culture that values talent, collaboration, autonomy, and accountability, where every copywriting/editing contributor strives to elevate these standards. You will serve as a strategic and trusted partner to the account management, creative and client teams, as well as a key member of the department leadership team. You will drive internal creative team processes and requirements, ensuring the right talent, tools and systems are in place to position the writing team for success. You will exhibit outstanding writing judgment and guide the team in achieving the highest possible standards for all materials, regardless of medium. **Fundamental Job Components** + Manage and oversee the performance, development, and well-being of copywriting/editing team members, including tasks such as hiring, training, and ongoing feedback. + Possess a deep understanding of the health insurance industry, client’s health benefits products, audiences, and business objectives, and execute on writing that aligns with the client’s vision. + Ensure successful execution of all writing projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and meet the required quality standards. + Write creative, effective copy according to project specifications / creative brief from start-to-finish, including letters, flyers, emails, SMS, phone scripts, website copy, etc. in plain language standards, meet members’ information needs, and follows applicable client brand and voice guidelines. + Act as a top-level copywriter, effectively managing relationships with stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of project objectives and address any concerns or issues that may arise. + Execute the continuous improvement of writing and proofing related processes and methodologies by implementing best practices and promoting a culture of innovation and efficiency. + Approve writing standards and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all deliverables. + Recommend, research and develop facts, quotes, and scenarios to support creative strategy and execution. + Ensure messaging, brand guidelines and directives are embraced and adhered to in all executions. + Execute writing requests with accuracy, producing zero errors in work (client’s edits are implemented correctly, spell check was run, facts and trademarks confirmed) + Proactively identify and act on opportunities for operational efficiencies and improvements. + Create a collaborative environment, encouraging cross-functional collaboration with other teams such as account management, creative, MarTech, operations, and digital teams. + Ensure the team is compliant with all branding, operational, legal, and regulatory mandates. + Advise leadership on the allocation of resources to support key design initiatives and ensure they align with organizational goals and objectives. + Maintain consistent voice and audience focus in writing, and have the ability to “boil down” verbose content to the “essence” of the main message, using plain language skills + Work harmoniously with others to get a job done and lead the team in a collaborative fashion. + Ensure collaboration and teamwork within the creative team and across the organization; promote a “be of service” mentality to the client and across the internal team. + Build a collective team vision and define creative goals and objectives. + Ensure consistent quality control in all work from the copywriting team + Develop, coach, and mentor direct reports through formal and informal feedback, including annual performance reviews. **Required Qualifications** + 7 plus years of copywriting experience, overseeing writing in an external or internal agency. + 7 plus years of health benefits insurance marketing and communication expertise. + Employee benefits knowledge and experience. + Experience with collaboration and teamwork within the creative team and across the organization; promote a “be of service” mentality to the client and across the internal team. + Proficiency with AP or Chicago Manual of Style + Experience writing applications in traditional and emerging channels + Experience adapting style of copy to various audiences, purposes, or media + Knowledge of compliance and legal requirements (disclaimers) surrounding copy + Experience utilizing AI to proof and/or enhance copy + Strong knowledge of the client’s business, style, and consistency standards. **Education** + Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience **Pay Range** The typical pay range for this role is: $82,940.00 - $182,549.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
