Job Summary/Purpose

Sr. Manager, Grid is accountable for providing leadership, direction, management and oversight for the activities within the Transmission Grid organization. This includes providing a safe work environment to perform all required inspection and maintenance tasks, outage and failure response and management, capital project execution for blanket projects under $250K and support and commissioning of new lines and equipment to be energized and maintained as a transmission line or substation asset.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Provides leadership, management and oversight for substation field operations, including safety, regulatory compliance, equipment inspections and maintenance, capital project management and support, contract management, workgroup direction, departmental Transmission risk review development and approval of risk review requests for other executing organizations and configuration management. Accountable for tracking and controlling the execution of the capital and maintenance budget for the western Grid which includes planning, scheduling and completing maintenance and capital work to meet all project goals safely, achieve critical milestones and accomplish required levels of customer satisfaction. Manages the supervision of exempt/bargaining employees including Substation Managers and Supervisors, Operations Coordinators, Substation and Relay craft personnel and supports staff to include effective coaching, training and employee development Responds to regulatory compliance issues in terms of managing compliance requirements; supports efforts related to regulatory requests from FERC, NERC, SERC and other regulatory bodies. Ensures configuration management processes are followed and evaluates enhancement opportunities. Interface with supporting organizations including engineering, finance, asset planning, customer service managers, operations centers, environmental management, substation engineering, etc. Lead and participate on teams to address various jurisdictional and system objectives such as improvement projects, regulatory filings, safety projects, cost control efforts, reliability improvement, and labor management.

 

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

BS in Engineering or a related field or equivalent work experience.

 

Minimum experience required of the position

8 years in Utility industry or equivalent relevant experience and 3 years of Supervisory experience

 

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

Demonstrated exceptional leadership ability. Excellent interpersonal skills; team player. Experience in managing/executing large capital and O&M projects. Thorough understanding of procedures, programs, and standards. Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multi-projects simultaneously. Knowledge of utility electric system design and operations. Knowledge of budgets, financial procedures, and property accounting.
