Purpose

Provide project management and change management for large scale HR projects (excluding technology projects).  Define and coordinate execution of the communication strategy for HR - ensure clear and consistent messaging to customers and stakeholders and alignment of messages to Newmont brand and value proposition.  Gather best practices, leading trends and insights about HR and the industry that support the Human Capital strategy.

Essential Duties

Change Management

Leads the development and execution of change management plans for large-scale HR programs and initiatives.  Ensures that all change and communications strategies are aligned with overall Human Capital Strategy and functional objectives. Drive all phases of change management work using Newmont’s methodology and tools; develop and execute change strategies and plans, impact analysis, readiness assessments, stakeholder analyses, engagement and communication plans, and communication deliverables. Facilitate, coach and act as a trusted advisor to senior management to help enable their successful engagement as leaders of the change.   Confidently and tactfully address issues with leadership and peers.

Communications:

Responsible for developing and coordinating the communication strategy for the function.  Incorporate ongoing voice of customer feedback with an eye towards continuous improvement of employee experience. Provide and draft content for key HR communications, including messages from EVP, Human Resources.  Deliverables may encompass monthly updates, announcements, internal and external presentations, and monthly performance reports which may be targeted for audiences through all levels of the organization globally. Effectively prepare executive-level presentations (e.g., content development, speaking points, scripts, etc.). Guide the design and management of communication for internal HR in partnership with Communities of Expertise and HR Operations Services; decide communication channels and develop and maintain a HR communications calendar. Establish appropriate governance around review/approval cycles of HR communications and facilitate defined scope. Ensure clear and consistent messaging to customers and stakeholders and alignment of messages to Newmont’s brand and employee value proposition (EVP).   Partner effectively with appropriate internal stakeholders (e.g., Communications function) to use enterprise tools to support execution of EVP branding and messaging. Support work to evolve, communicate and market Newmont’s EVP and employer brand in alignment with the Human Capital Strategy and Business Strategy, adjusting by target audience as appropriate. 

Project Management

Provide project management and governance support for large scale HR projects (excluding technology projects). Establish, manage and ensure execution of project plans; continually evaluate priorities; provide overall project/program risk and issue resolution and roadblock removal.  Provide project coordination for enterprise-wide, cross-functional and/or external projects involving HR resources. Acts as a liaison and coordinates with corporate functions and other regions such that consistency is maintained between HR projects and programs.  Facilitate the allocation of HR resources to HR initiatives to ensure appropriate support, and avoid resource conflicts. Support the development of global and regional HR programs, policies and procedures as appropriate. Work in global teams to create consistent and standard processes and programs as appropriate.

HR Insights

Use benchmarking to create and share leading practices. Monitor external HR best practice and trends for insights that are business strategy relevant and impactful. Leverage expertise in the industry to extract knowledge to improve organizational abilities to plan for future business needs. Monitor success of programs and recommend improvements to leadership.

Training & Experience

Skills and Experience

Minimum of BS degree in human resources, business, communications or related field plus 10+ years of progressive, relevant HR work experience, preferably in a global company. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.  Able to communicate clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings, audiences, and styles.  Experienced with developing and delivering communications globally through many channels; ensure messages are being delivered to the right audience at the right time in the right channel, in a consistent and engaging format.  Ability to understand broad strategic concepts and develop positioning messages. Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships.  Proven ability to work collaboratively cross-functionally and at all levels in an organization. Strong consultative skills and customer orientation.  Excellent active listening skills. Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal. Experience with change management in large, complex, multi-cultural organizations.  Prior consulting experience preferred. Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools.  Change management certification or designation desired. Effective facilitation and presentation skills. Previously demonstrated project/program management and analytical skills with the ability to identify and understand complex problems, make decisions, create plans and solutions, and take action. Experience with project management approaches, and tools. Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, plan and execute multiple cross functional projects and initiatives across all levels and disciplines. Strong business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges.  Effective with bringing in external best practice and aligning to business strategy and environment. Ability to drive proactive, continuous improvement approach in work. Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations. Results oriented, innovative, creative and a pro-active self-starter. Mastery of Microsoft applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
