Reporting to the Head of Business Line Communications, Manulife Wealth and Asset Management, the Head of Communications for Manulife’s Private Markets business will be responsible for building, connecting, and driving the communications strategy to support the objectives, visibility, and overall goals of the business.
This role will be responsible for developing communications strategies that articulate the strategic objectives of this business internally to connect colleague to our overarching Manulife Investment Management objectives, and externally to protect and enhance our reputation with the media, advisors, and other audiences.
In the execution of your responsibilities, this position will be a member of Manulife WAM’s Global Communications team and will work closely with other members of the Manulife communications team, as well as Communications Global Practice Areas (media relations, events, thought leadership, issues management, content) to drive initiatives forward and ensure continuous improvement of our work.
Position Responsibilities:
Drive comprehensive internal and external communications support for Manulife Investment Management’s Private Markets business to effectively engage and inform employees and the press.
Develop and implement integrated communications plans, bring them to life through encouraging programs and tactics, and consistently measure to ensure we’re hitting the mark.
Build strategic partnerships with key segment and global business partners to capture and share relevant information that ensures colleagues are connected to our global mission, understand our strategy and the role they play in it, take pride in the products and services we offer, and are engaged in our award-winning culture.
Collaborate with segment and global communications colleagues to ensure consistent messaging, positioning, and language.
Oversee the development and maintenance of internal communication channels, such as intranet, executive messages & newsletters, and town hall meetings.
Monitor and measure the effectiveness of communication initiatives and adjust strategies as needed to drive engagement and understanding.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, English, journalism or related field.
6-8+ years of experience in internal and external communications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working for an organization focused on wealth and asset management.
Deep capital markets and investing acumen, with a pulse on the issues and trends affecting the end investor.
Knowledge and understanding of private markets investment vehicles.
Significant experience across multiple communications disciplines (e.g. strategy communication, transformation messaging, engagement, people, culture and brand, issues management, social media, and storytelling).
Proven relationships in financial media, business, and personal finance across trade and top-tier outlets.
Experience with thought leadership initiatives, large- and small-scale event management.
Experience working with a shared services team considered an asset.
Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities within reasonable timelines.
A proven track record of strong execution.
Strong attention to detail.
Innovative, creative, proactive self-starter with a keen sense of urgency and initiative.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a globally integrated and aligned team of communicators.

HybridSalary range is expected to be between
